(The same day at Iffat's apartment)

I settled back into the couch, a smirk curling at the corners of my lips as the sound of the shower began to drift from the washroom.

The rhythmic patter of water created a tranquil backdrop, amplifying the satisfaction that lingered in the air.

Haaye meri Iffat.

She must be so tired after all the work she has done today.

I get up and gently brush my fingers against the light grey curtains in the living room, then head towards the combined kitchen area.

I take a glass, fill it with water, and place it on the shelf.

Unknowingly a smile forms on my face.

It always does whenever I think of her.

Umm, what shall I do next?

I had already gathered and neatly organized the books she had scattered around the living room.

Last night, she had been studying here for her exam that happens to be on the same day as my concert.

I had seen her crying because of that, and only I knew how much it was tearing me apart inside to witness her tears.

All my mistake. All mine.

I was so excited about bringing the concert to Edmonton for her that I completely forgot to check her schedule.

It's not that I didn't check at all; I knew Iffat had two exams on the same date. However, what I didn't realize was that she had emailed the professor to reschedule one of the exams.
