The Blizzard

"The storm's gonna get pretty bad. I'm gonna go out and see what I can find food wise." Avi said as she grabbed her bag and weapons.

"Please be careful. Remember to mark your path ok?" Trixy said as she cupped her cheek and kissed her goodbye.

"I will, and my radio's charged. Call if you need me."

"I will." Trix smiled as Avi left with Bella.

While they were walking, Avi paused and looked at Bella, who was walking close behind her.

"You know, we haven't talked a bunch since Danny died bells..." She said as she carved an X into a nearby tree to mark the path.

"I know, I'm sorry... It's been rough on me lately..."

"I get it, I'm not faulting you for it. I just wanna make sure you know to talk to one of us." She smiled and tripped over a root. She cried out and fell in the snow face first, groaning as she grabbed her ankle. "Damnit!"

"You ok?"

"No, I just twisted my ankle again..! It's the one I broke in the fall..!"

"Ok, hold still, lemme help-"

"I'm fine- I'm fine." She grunted as she swatted her hand away. She inhaled sharply through her teeth and groaned. "Son of a- crap..."

"Avi, let me help, or I'm telling trixy." Bella said sternly as she grabbed her arm and Avi gave her a glare. Of course Bella would use her fear of her girlfriend against her.

"Fine..."

Avi grunted as bella wrapped around her waist and helped her up. Avi gasped when she heard moans and snarls coming towards them rapidly. They must've heard Avi scream.

"Run."

Avi winced as she and Bella tried to run. But unfortunately with avi's injury, it was almost impossible for them to outrun the zombies. Bella dragged her into an old cabin, and Avi slammed herself against the door, crying out in pain as she tried to hold it shut.

"Bella, run..!"

"I'm not leaving you alone!"

"And I'm not gonna be responsible for someone else's death!" Avi snapped and looked at her with begging eyes. "Please bells..!"

"I can't lose anyone else..!" Bella protested and watched as the zombies started breaking pieces in the door, reaching to try and grab Avi, one even got a grip on her neck.

She choked and struggled as it cut off her air supply, her nails digging into the decaying arm. Bella pulled her gun and shot it, making it pull back and release Avi, who pulled out her own gun.

"We can't take them all..." She coughed out as she rubbed her neck.

She looked around for an escape, looking up at the beams. She grabbed Bella's shoulder and pointed to the support beams overhead. Bella picked up pretty quickly and hopped on avi's hands as she lifted her up. Bella then leaned down and grabbed avi's hand to pull her up, and just as she was pulled up out of sight, the door broke down and zombies looked around. Avi covered Bella's mouth and watched with baited breath as the zombies lingered around for a while. She sighed in relief after a few minutes when the zombies finally left the area and they jumped down.

"I think that's enough hunting for today." Avi chuckled as she grabbed her bag and bella grabbed her shoulder to help her walk back to the camp.
