Chapter 11

"Push me and then just touch me, til I can get my satisfaction," I sang in a robot voice.

"Skyler, if you love me, you won't ever sing that again," Lucas whined.

"Well, it's a good thing I don't love you then," I said with a smirk before I started singing again and this time adding in the robot dance. "Push me, and then just touch me, til I can get my satisfaction."

Lucas glared daggers at me for a second and then he came closer to me. I stopped singing and took a cautious step back and, knowing he wouldn't be able to catch me, just put his palm up in a pushing motion and I shot backwards landing on my butt. He walked over to me glowering at him on the ground and squatted down. He traced his thumb over my cheek. "Lucas, what are you doing?" I asked him quietly, swallowing loudly as I felt the tingles.

"You said 'push me and then just touch me' so tell me, Skyler, are you satisfied? Did you get your satisfaction?" He laughed as he stood up and offered me his hand. I allowed him to pull me up.

"How could I ever be satisfied if it was you who was touching me?" I retorted stubbornly now in a standing position.

He put a hand over his heart in mock hurt. "Ouch, babe, you really know how to damage an ego."

"Well, your ego is so darn big I don't think I did much damage at all. Plus, it will only rebuild," I said smugly. "And I don't think that's what she meant when she said 'push me'. She meant--"

Suddenly Lucas was right in front of me. Towering down on me. His hazel eyes filled with amusement. "I knew what she meant, Skyler. But I figured you would not want me to actually 'push' you," he chuckled.

I blushed and stepped away as I realized what he was implying. "You're darn tootin."

"Umm. . .?" Lucas asked me confusefdly with a--as the preps say-- WTH look.

I sighed. "You're right I would not like for you to, er, 'push' me." I looked up from the floor awkwardly and Lucas was literally on the ground cracking up. "What's so funny, you moron?"

"You--haha-- you're so--haha--you don't even--" He couldn't even finish a sentence through his fits of laughter. I walked over and kicked his side lightly with the toe of my boot.

"Get up you big lump of--" I was interrupted by another fit of laughter. "What's so funny now?" I groaned angrily.

"You said big lump!" he laughed hysterically. I shook my head and mumbled something about him being 'immature'. Or you know, stuff along those lines.

"Get up, Lucas. Isadora said we have training today," I told him seriously. "Unless you want me to call her and say we can't go because of you. . ."

That got him up within a second. "Let's go."

"Lucas, you suck  b--" I started but Dora put a hand on her hip and shot me a stern look that a mom would give a child that was caught misbehaving. . . or stealing a cookie from the cookie jar. Trust me, I know that look. "You suck grape-juice." I added quickly. "That's what you suck, nothing else. . . because you're so sweet. . . like grape-juice."

Lucas made a face that showed me he was trying so hard to hold in his laughter as his lips were pressed tightly together and his face was turning red. "Thank you, Skyler." He said in a strained voice.

Isadora put a finger to her temple and shook her head. "How am I ever going to get anything done with you two? I swear, next time either one of you acts up you're going to the corner!" She yelled as she pointed to a corner of the warehouse that she had bought as a training room. "I mean it." Lucas and I nodded knowing she wasn't joking one bit. She looked at me. "Alright, Skyler, I know you can do this. Just give it one more try. Give it your full attention and concentrate h--will you quit that snickering, Lucas? You're distracting her! Thank you-- Now, as I was saying, Sky, concentrate hard."

I stared at the book and put on my concentration face, but I might have looked a just slight bit constipated. Every ounce of my body was paying attention to this book and my mind was straining itself to block everything else in the world out. "Surgere," I whispered as I clutched my amulet tight in my palm. The book lifted itself off the table and hovered in mid-air.

"Wonderful, Skyler! You've got it!" Dora squealed excitedly, clapping her hands. "Now tell it to move. Go on, just like we practiced."

I kept my grip on the necklace and my gaze on the book as I murmured to the stone. My tone was louder than before and more confident. "Reliquit movere." The book moved to the leftt. "Admoverent." The book rose higher in the air. "Movere." The book moved to the right. "Requiem," I said finally and the book moved itself down to the table and stopped moving altogether.

"Not bad," Lucas stated crossing his arms as if his saying it made it official. "But I could've done better. In fact, I can do better."

I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth to say something before Isadora stepped forward with an innocent smile on her face. "Lucas, my dearest brother?"

"Yes?"

Her innocent and sweet act dropped as she let her eyes get cold and her smile turn into a scowl. "Go to the corner."
