It's Friday, which means it's Angels birthday! She's more than excited.

There are balloons everywhere, confetti, all the works! There's even a piñata of a unicorn. The men are busy braaing outside while us, the ladies, are busy making the salads and stuff.

KHANYI: Uhm, it's Nozipho's birthday soon and I was thinking we do a little something for the boys, as a surprise.
Who's Nozipho?

DUDU:That sounds nice, what do you have in mind?

KHANYI:Angazi, Kgopotso what do you think? Nozi is their sister.
Oh my gosh. Why me?(I don't know)

KGOPOTSO :Uhm I don't know... We could get them gifts that could remind them of her I guess.
Dudu nods.

CHANTELLE :That sounds cute.

KGOPOTSO :I wouldn't know what to get Kwanele though.

KHANYI: Don't worry about that, we'll help you out.
Okay ladies we need to go get ready for the party!

We clean up in the kitchen to go get all dressed up.
Khanyi's hair to die for. Big curly afro, and don't get me started on her body! Greek goddess! The perfect amount of everything.

Chantelle is a weave girly. A buss down, 6 inch frontal with a full face beat. She has curves for days.
The perfect definition of being thick and owning it.

Dudu is a sucker for good jewelry. She has a couple of face piercing too. She's more of a 'no makeup' kind of woman and mainly because she has flawless skin.
She's quite petite and has an amazing sense of fashion, I wonder where she gets it from?

We're all wearing matching sundresses. It was obviously Chantelle's idea.

We retreat to the kitchen to go call in the kids for lunch.

DUDU :Haibo how long does it take to cook meat ngeke shem.
They have been outside for a while now.

KHANYI: Here they come.

BANDILE : Where's the little princess? Her gifts are waiting for her!

CHANTELLE :Ai cha bhuti. Don't get her all excited yet,she won't eat her food.(no)

The birthday girl comes running in wearing a cute pink tutu!

*****************************

After lunch a jumping castle arrived and it's been keeping the kids busy. Mtho and Bandile brought out a case of Heineken and other varieties of alcohol. Dingane and Kwanele don't drink.

Bandile and Dudu are sitting in a corner chatting up, like teenagers in love.
Dingane is asleep, he says he's getting a little too old now. Nonsense. He actually looks super young for his age.

Kwanele has been restless the entire day, answering calls left, right and center.

KWANELE : Mthokozisi woza, we have to go deal with something. (come)

MTHO: Hao manje bafo. (now brother)
Kwaneles face hardens.

KWANELE :Yes manje. (now)
Mthokozisi stands up and follows behind his brother.

KWANELE : Ngiyeza yezwa. (I'm coming)
He says as he passes besides me. I nod.

***************************

We're playing cards. The kids are fast asleep and so is Bandile. It's almost midnight, Kwanele and Mthokozisi are still not back. Is this going to be habit of him coming home late?

CHANTELLE :It's your turn!
She's super drunk.
I play my card and Khanyi laughs out.

KHANYI: Wehh Kgopotso, yini manje le? (what is this)
I roll my eyes.

KGOPOTSO :I'm bad at this game.

KHANYI: Where's your head at?

KGOPOTSO :Nowhere.
I defend.

KHANYI: Don't worry, he'll be back soon.
She says with a smile. Ahh I swear she's a mind reader!

We continue playing and I continue losing.

KGOPOTSO : I'm calling it a night guys, I'm going to bed.
I say my goodnights and head upstairs. I stay on my phone for a little while, hoping that Kwanele will walk through the door but he doesn't so I go to sleep.

****************************

KGOPOTSO :Hmmm! Switch off the lights!
I groan. He's back and he's making a noise and I want to sleep.

KWANELE : I can't see in the dark.

KGOPOTSO :Well if you didn't come back home so late, you wouldn't need to see in the dark.
The room falls silent. He sits on the bed.

KWANELE : You don't like it when I come home late?

KGOPOTSO :No and only because you're like a toddler and you fidget around before going to sleep and I'd already be in dreamland.

KWANELE : Okay. I won't come home late then.
He gets up to switch off the lights and comes into the bed.

I feel his feet touch mine and they're ice cold.

KGOPOTSO :Kwanele...
I move my feet away.

KWANELE :Ngifudumeze phela mama. (Warm me up)
I roll my eyes.

He pulls me in closer.

KWANELE :Mhm?
His hand reaches for my chin and I look up at him. The next moment our lips collide into a kiss.

*************************

This morning has been good. I made breakfast and started prepping for lunch. Later on I'm going to go do my nails with Dudu.

But before that I have about 3 basket of dirty laundry that I have to get through so I better get started on that.

NTANDO: You're phone's ringing.
She yells out from the TV room. I rush to the charger to go answer it. It's Metse. I haven't heard from her in a long time.

KGOPOTSO :Hello.

ONTLAMETSE : Hi... How are you?

KGOPOTSO :Uhm,I'm okay. How are you?

ONTLAMETSE : Ke shap. Papa misses you. (I'm okay)
I scoff

ONTLAMETSE :Really, we all do. Why haven't you called?

KGOPOTSO :I don't know? What took you guys so long to call me?

ONTLAMETSE :. We thought you wouldn't want to hear from us after what happened.
I don't respond for a moment?

KGOPOTSO : That's nonsense and you know it, you're my only family. I'm not the one that went MIA here. You guys did. Imagine I had to figure things out by myself, kanakweo mama just passed. That's not fair. ( at the same time)

Yes I haven't reached out to them but they didn't reach out to me either. How am I supposed to feel?

ONTLAMETSE : Omphile wants you to visit.
I sigh.

KGOPOTSO :I'll see what I can do.
I hang up the phone and start on the laundry.
Firstly, the whites!

I take all the white shirts and put them in the washing machine.....

Wait! Is this blood on Kwanele's shirt?
It's the one he wore yesterday. How did blood get all the way to the collar of the shirt?
