PAECYN

Me hot, a me alone hot? I look around the room to figure out if it's just me. Nobody else seems to be overheating.

I have less than five minutes left. The five minutes were to be used to check everything, but instead, I found a slight mistake.

See when you mind deh all ova the place?

*You can fix it. Please don't start with the panicking*

I take a deep breath, clear my mind as much as I can and adjust my measurements.

Three minutes into the last five, I get it done. Dropping my pencil into the desk gutter, I release a sigh.

Thank you God. I knowwwwww I ate that up, mistake or not.

*Pheeeww*

If I learnt anything though, is the reiteration of the fact that my mind cannot handle school along with anything... other than co-corriculars.

Not family issues...

Not friendship issues...

And certainly not a potential relationship...

When something's happening, me affi fight too hard to not think about it 24/7. Mi cyaa afford such a distraction during CSEC.

*I just can't*

I wait for the invigilator to collect my papers, before I gather my tools and leave. Terrence left a few seconds before me and is now waiting at the bag stand with my backpack in his hands.

*Such a gentleman this one.*

"Thank you," I smile while taking it from him.

"Weh yah do now?" is his first question.

*Not how was the exam enuh. Weh me a do now*

"How was it?" I redirect the question to what I want to hear, while digging for my phone.

"Keep the exit clear Ms. Gray," Mrs-Sharpe reminds us.

I nod and step aside.

"Never bad..." he goes on to say other things but my mind is now focused on dialing Jacen.

Terrence says something else, to which I say, "Mhmm me too."

... And me duh have a clue weh him a talk 'bout.

"Cyaa believe that nuh come pon it, in that form at least," he chuckles.

I laugh too, before holding my phone to my ears.

"Ready?" Jacen's voice comes across the line.

"Hello to you too," I giggle.

He joins my laughter.

"Me ago call mommy, meet me a gate," I add.

"Aight," is all he says before hanging up.

I do just as I said, ring my mother... but she doesn't pick up.
