I had no idea what go into Aza. One minute she was kissing me and the next she started screaming and freaking out. She threw me off the bed and locked herself in the bathroom. I softly knocked on the door. "Aza. Please open the door." I said softly trying not scare her more.Jaxon and Eli bragged in. Arroya peaked behind them. "We heard yelling. What happened." Eli asked. "Arroya freaked out on me and locked herself in the bathroom." I say. Arroya pushed between them and came up to me. She touched my lip and wiped something off. "You're bleeding." She said and looked down on to see blood smeared on her thumb. I hadn't known, I didn't even feel it.
Jaxon came to the door and knocked softly. "Azy can you open the door for me please." He whispered. The door unlocked and slowly opened. I couldn't see Aza. Jaxon went in and the door slammed shut. I wanted to break down the door and see her. But I was afraid she'd freak out again.
When I went in, I saw Aza leaning against the wall and tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry." She sobbed. I felt like crying myself from hearing her cry. I slowly kneeled down in front of her. She quickly moved away from me. I raised my hands up. "It's okay. It's just me." I say softly."Can I hug you?" I asked. It wasn't the first time Aza freaked out on someone and locked herself in a room. She wouldn't let me, dad or Eli touch her. Mom was the only one she'd allowed to touch her.
Azazel nodded. I quickly rapped my arms around her and she laid her head against my chest. She cried again. "I saw him." I knew who she was talking about. She has nightmares every time someone brings up what happened four years ago. I hate myself every time I bring it up when we argue.
I creased her hair. "It's okay. He's not here. You're safe. Azy." I say. I could hear her heart pounding in her chest. I continue to hold her until I felt her breathing even out. I looked down at her to see that was she was sleeping.
Arroya dragged me downstairs when I wouldn't leave the room. I wanted to stay and make sure azazel was okay. To tell her that I was sorry. When I looked at her, all I saw was fear. I sat down on the couch, biting my finger nails. I completely forgot that I didn't have anything underneath. I just had aza's shirt on.Jaxon came downstairs and I quickly stood up. "Is she okay?" I asked. He nodded. "She asleep, but she might wake up screaming in a hour or two maybe less." He said and sat down next to Eli. They gave each other a look. Which made Eli clench his fist.
"What were you doing when she freaked out?" Jaxon asked out of nowhere. "What? Nothing." I say. "She doesn't get triggered unless someone is touching her or if they're closing her in." He says. He stood up from the couch and glared at me. "You really think I would hurt her?" He shrugged. "We both know you hate each other. How do we know that hatred didn't lead to violence."
"I would never hurt azazel. I can't say the same for you though."
Eli and arroya looked at us confused. "What is she talking about Jaxon." Eli asked. "Nothing. I don't know what she's talking about." He says, as he kept glaring at me. "No. Tell them. Tell them how I caught you telling a group of students three months after azazel triggered her gene."
Eli stood up from the couch. Walking to Jaxon. "What is she talking about Jaxon?" He asked him again. Jaxon stayed quiet. "He's the one that spread those rumors about azazel." His fist was about to collide with my face. I moved to side, dodging his punch. I grabbed his fist and twisted his hand behind his back, pushing him into the coffee table. Jaxon was about hit me again but Eli step in. Grabbing him by his collar. "Let's go." He tells him and drags him outside.
Four years ago
I was heading to the library when I heard Jaxon say azazel's name. "I'm telling you guys. Stay away from azazel. She killed an innocent man three months ago. I'd be damned if I let it happen again." He says. We all knew that she triggered her gene. But I didn't know how.
Azazel locked herself in her dorm all day long and she wouldn't let arroya see her. She'd run out of class when a teacher touched her shoulder. Especially if it was a man. After you kill an innocent man you don't flinch when an other man touches you. So I knew that Jaxon was lying, I just didn't know why.
I walk back to library after I heard what Jaxon said. I put the flowers that I pick out of the garden down on the table. Arroya looked at me smiling.
I have liked azazel since the day I saw her. She was visiting her aunt and I helped her out. Today I was going to ask if she wanted to go out with me. "Do you think she'll like them?" I asked arroya. She nodded. Taking the flowers in her hands.
Azazel furiously walked in the library. "Who said that I killed an innocent man?" She yelled out. All of the people looked at each other. I saw Jaxon lowered his head down. I was going to regret what I was going to do. Especially if it ends up breaking my relationship with her. I breathed in and stepped forward. "I did." I said. Arroya looked at me confused.
Azazel stormed up to me and she threw a right hook, punching me in the face. Making me fall down. We all knew azazel had a strong right hand. Students let out a loud gasp. Since anyone in the school couldn't lay a finger on me due to my fast reflexes.
Present
"Does azazel know." Arroya asked. I shook my head. I didn't want to lie to arroya but I knew she would tell azazel. I couldn't let her. It would hurt her more knowing that her twin brother betrayed her, less than it would if she found out that her friend betrayed her.
