There's a predator
lurking in the shadows
waiting and watching
as she pulls herself up the mountainside
fistfuls of grass, blood, and dirt.He observes from a distance
the pain, the agony, the struggle
like sweet nectar on his tongue.
"Not yet time for action." he says, and
twiddles his thumbs.
Expectant of the rise
as he knows she's always done
he can only pull her back
into the descent,
once she's ascended.
Once the light,
incandescence,
returns to her eyes,
his opportune time
"Now I will adorn the guise."
In a rush
in a gasp
a stunned deer in a lane
divine intervention
comes in to save
"Murderer of joy,
thief in broad daylight,
your night is approaching,
it will not slow down.
All you've done in secret
will be on displayTake a seat now.
watch and replay
as God turns
the predators
into prey."
