After a long day of what seemed like forever, Amir and I made it back to his house, both of us worn out from exploring the Serendrian village. As soon as I stepped in his house, I immediately sat down and took off those glass heels and mask. Halfway during the time we went out, my ankles started to hurt from the pressure of outlines of the heels. Never wearing those again. Layna can happily keep them.
Time passed alarmingly quick. When we left, it was approximately past nine. Now, it was five thirty. I felt exhausted. Judging from emptiness of the living room and kitchen, Hassan and Layna were in their rooms. I'll wait until they come out to show what Amir and I bought. I plopped my head back, shutting my eyes. We may have to go out again to get more masks that will suit our other outfits that we might wear in the future. The ones that we were bought are cute but you never know if they will be fitting.
"Do you want some water?" Amir half-shouted from the kitchen.
"Yes, please."
Amir handed me the glass of water before he headed back to the kitchen. When was his parents coming back? I don't want to hide last minute because we weren't careful enough.
I half pondered if I should wait for Layna and Hassan to come out, or if I should go to their rooms and call them. My feet still hurt from walking all day. Although, I do want to get this over with. I chugged down the water in one go before making my decision. Reluctantly, I forced myself off the sofa and penguin walked to Layna's room. I didn't know where Hassan's room was, so I'll ask Layna to get him once I've asked her first.
Why was Layna's room at the end of their stupidly long hallway? I used the walls for support, so I wouldn't fall. That would be embarrassing. Who would come to get me first if I did fall? When I made it in front of Umaizah's door, I knocked impatiently. I heard a drawer close almost too hard, as if it was slammed. I waited for her to open the door.
"Give me a minute!" She yelled. All sorts of noises were made. Slamming drawers, throwing objects that I couldn't define. What was she doing?
"Come in," she sung. I turned the handle as soon as the last word left her mouth. Her room looked as it was before. She was sat on the chair of her desk, she was turned to face me.
"What were you doing?" I laughed. "It sounded like a fight here."
"My room was a mess so I cleaned it up before you could see. I was journaling most of the time you and Amir were out." I leaned onto the doorframe, standing on my tiptoes for less pressure on my ankles. Layna stared at me weird.
"What happened to your foot?" She got up from her seat, crouching down while squinting at my right foot.
"The glass heels weren't that bad, my foot only looks like that because we were walking for most of the time." I didn't want her to feel bad since she was the one who recommended the heels.
"Do you want or need anything for it? However, it's only red around your ankles, nothing bad." She pushed herself up. One hand on her knee, the other on the ground to support her. She straightened herself, rising to her original height.
"Nah, I'll be fine. I won't put pressure on it for a while. It only aches."
"Were you just coming to check on me or did you need me?" Right, I forgot.
"Amir and I bought a few things we wanted to show you. Well, mostly me." Get ready for the scream.
"OMG, of course! I love hauls!" Her smile reached ear to ear. I loved seeing her smile.
"One thing though. Can you ask Hassan if he wants us to show him too?"
"For sure, his room is the door behind you." She pointed behind me. "You can go back, have a rest."
