Chapter 12: A Mystery in the Academy

Tsunami POV:

"So, we have a murder mystery, do we now?" I heard, and immediately ran, not wanting to be caught. I can't let anybody know that I killed Anemone, I just... I've just been so jealous of her, it's not fair that not only does she get to be an animus*, but she also acts like she's better than everyone else when Turtle is the one to give her animus powers! Oh well, that brat is dead now. As long as they don't know that it was me, I should be fine.

Jay POV:

I heard footsteps to my right as I said those words, and realized the body has been freshly killed. Looking at her body, I could tell that she was murdered by claw, so that eliminates Clay since he has no blood on any of his body. "Alright, now we need to check for clues. Maybe I can check for claw prints, but what are the chances that actually works? Oh well, it's my only lead other than looking and seeing if I can find just who was running down that hall. Retro, can you hand me the- wait, the ink won't work if the blood is still running. Nevermind, for now, can you hand me a small towel?" I asked, slightly lost in thought. "Yeah, give me a second." Retro answered before leaving to go grab a small towel. He came back about a minute later with the towel and passed it to me.

I thanked him before lightly pressing an untouched side onto the wound, easing the blood while also not messing with the fingerprints. By the time the blood had stopped, I asked Retro "Can you hand me the ink and the tape?" He nodded before grabbing the ink and tape, and as I pressed the ink on the body and then pressed the tape, I immediately knew who did it. "W-wait, she did it? But why, they're siblings, and as far as I'm aware, there's no bad blood between them, and not even any bad blood between Anemone and Tu-... that's it. She did it because she didn't want her to hurt Turtle anymore." I said, fitting the pieces together.

I told Retro and Clay to follow me as I went over to the office of the school, and found the principal's office. "W-wait, you think it was Tsunami? But why would she do it?!" Clay said, his tone of voice confused and sad. "Because her claw prints were on the body, and like I said before, she did it in the self-defense of Turtle." I said before opening the door. "Tsunami, we aren't mad, and we know you did it, we just want to know why." Retro said as he walked in behind me, Clay following nervously. "What do you mean? I didn't do anything, you guys must be talking crazy." Tsunami said, trying to deny the allegations. "Tsunami, we know what you did to Anemone. Again, we aren't going to tell anyone, we just want to confirm the reasoning behind it." Clay said, trying to reassure Tsunami.

It clearly worked, because she sighed in defeat and replied "Ok, fine. I did do it, but I swear it was for a good reason. Anemone is always trying to make herself seem better than everyone else, with her animus power and whatnot. But it's not like she actually is, especially knowing that she shouldn't even HAVE her powers in the first place. She only has her powers because Turtle gave some of his to her. I was just sick of it." It was clear that Tsunami was ashamed, and I didn't blame her. But at least the case has been solved.
