Chapter 4 - What Was His Name?!

*Tails enters the kitchen early in the morning for some coffee, only to find Shadow there making coffee for himself*

Tails: "*does a big yawn* EEP! Shadow? Why are you up so early?"

Shadow: "Was working on a superior coffee formula than the sub par kind you have here"

Tails: "Well, I'm more of a coffee *drinking* guy than a coffee *making* guy, admittedly."

Shadow: "I take it you were the one who invented this, "Mean Bean Blending Machine"?"

Tails: "Well, no.... You can see who made those at the bottom of it."

Shadow: "Ivo Robotnik?! Gerald's grandson?!"

Tails: "Yup! It's one of the many sources of revenue for his..... Work."

Shadow: "*chuckles*, I guess coffee has always run in the family."

Tails: "So... how's this coffee recipe anyway? *takes a sip* Wowie Zowie this is good! Where'd you learn to make a recipe like this?!"

Shadow: "I got all of my culinary skills from Professor Gerald during my time at the ARK."

Tails: "Gerald Robotnik was an iron chef?"

Shadow: "A *platinum*, chef. He could transform the common meh burger into a culinary concoction of the gods. And through his teachings, so can I."

Tails: "How many Michelin stars do you have?"

Shadow: "Zero. It's *surprisingly* hard to get ratings in space."

Tails: "Alright, that was a dumb question. Still, if you can make coffee this good, and you're willing to put your money where your mouth is, we'd love to try your cooking sometime!"

Shadow: "Maybe we can celebrate with a feast of some kind when all of this is over."

Tails: "Sure!"

*A few hours later*

Tails: "Alright everyone! Our next stop is the Mystic Ruins!"

Sonic and Knuckles: "I know a friend there who can help!"

Sonic: "You know Sticks?"

Knuckles: "YOU know Sticks?"

Sonic: "Yeah! She's the one who taught me all my skills in combat! Got all my kickass Badnik Busting skills from her!"

Shadow: "How did you two meet?"

Sonic: "It was years ago. During an Eggman surprise attack, he nearly got me until Sticks saved me in the nick of time! She offered her training, I stayed with her for a couple months, and then I ended up as built and good looking as you all know me today~"

Shadow: "Okay, we get it! You're obsessed with yourself. Could we go already?"

Sonic: "Sure thing!."

*Sonic and Co Warp to the Mystic Ruins*

Sonic: "Alright everyone! We're here! Just uhh, be sure to avoid all the death traps leading to her den. There's some bear traps here, a sling tie or two there, a-"

*Shadow uses Chaos Control and neutralizes all the traps in the blink of an eye*

Shadow: "All the traps have been taken care of."

Sonic: "You've REALLY gotta teach me this whole Chaos Control thing!"

Shadow: "Considering you're probably the one who'll lead to the Chaos Cataclysm, I think I'll pass."

Amy: "What's he talking about?"

Sonic: "That's what I want to know."

*Sonic and Co enter Sticks's den, to find Sticks sharpening her weapons*
