CHAPTER TEN: Broken Control

Days rolled on smoothly after that though Saph didn't see Nyeve as much because she got busy with her plates and other school stuff while Nyeve got busy with her own business as well because midterms were approaching fast, and academics were always the younger woman's top priority.

Throughout the week, Saph and Nyeve would sometimes bump into the wide grounds of their campus but almost rarely, just waving at each other because they were on their way to their respective classes.. They've seen each other when Saph came to visit Sappy but not for too long since may kailangan silang gawin after.

They didn't spend a lot of time that week and Saph just shrugged it off since Nyeve did say that she was going to be very busy that week. However, she did notice something odd though or maybe Saph was overthinking.

After that night, Nyeve was quite... hindi ma-explain ni Saph pero parang sobrang tamlay niya and whenever they were talking through texts, the woman wasn't too energetic as usual. It started to feel like that Nyeve was avoiding her, and it was something that Saph would surely think of if Nyeve wasn't really busy.

Saph started to overthink na baka may nangyari but Nyeve would only say that sobrang pagod lang sa schoolwork and everything so she believed her, trying to cheer up the girl with her words.

Saph used that time to browse through stuff that she could buy as her gift to Nyeve since her birthday was near. She was very panicky since hindi niya talaga alam ang bibilhin para sa dalaga, she even asked her mom kung anong pwedeng bilhin and she kept teasing the girl dahil sobrang nag-aalala si Saph sa kanyang bibilhin. She simply wanted to get Nyeve something nice and special.

So, in the end, she bought something very expensive that almost drained her whole bank account but that was okay, babalik ang pera.

It was for the woman she loves anyway. Nyeve even deserves the damn whole wide universe for her birthday, if Saph could just give it to her, she definitely would; in a damn heartbeat.

That was the first time that Saph bought something that cost her a lot yet she didn't even blink and didn't hesitate to buy the item the moment she saw it despite the high price. She never bought anything expensive like that for herself at all.

Before, Saph liked to give Nyeve handwritten birthday letters, flowers, and things that she could wear and keep. Every birthday, her gift was just getting better and better.

Last year, in her debut, Saph gave her a white sundress that became Nyeve's favorite clothing and a bouquet of tulips, with of course — a handwritten letter full of her wishes and gentle reminders for the woman since she finally reached adulthood, and became a real lady.

Now, she would give her something bigger and nicer.

After her class, Saph immediately went home and barely even bid her friends goodbye because she had plans. But before that, she first went to Gong Cha to order two milk teas then continued to drive towards her destination.

Which was the Ashworth's residence. She was immediately let in by the guards of the exclusive villa since she usually went there frequently and was a former resident, and zoomed through the empty road. She parked her Porsche at her usual spot in the driveway and entered the huge house in a haste.

She was greeted by the housekeeper, Ate Mila, who looked delighted to see her. "Saph! Napadalaw ka ulit, hanap niyo po ba si Ma'am Snow?" asked the older woman at tumigil muna sa pagwawalis ng malaking front yard.

Saph nodded, and Ate Mila pointed out that she was just inside the house, playing with Sappy. She entered the familiar house, and immediately heard Sappy's barks echoing across the hallway so she went there that made her heart beam in excitement.
