CHAPTER FIVE: A Gift

The next morning, Saph took Nyeve home dahil aalis pa siya with her friends. She actually asked the younger woman if gusto sumama but the latter refused, telling her that she shouldn't interfere and besides, meron pa daw siyang homeworks na need gawin.

Soon, they arrived in front of the Ashworth's house, and Saph pulled over by the driveway. "Hindi na ako lalabas ah? I'll drop by naman later," said Saph as she took Sappy from Nyeve's lap first.

Nyeve nodded, "Yes, besides, wala din naman tao sa bahay because they're at work," She replied with a smile, unbuckling her seatbelt, then she looked like she was in deep thought. She looked like she was hesitating.

Saph immediately noticed this, giving the younger woman a look, "Do you have something more to say?" asked Saph softly, encouraging her not to hesitate.

Licking her lower lip nervously, Nyeve finally had the courage to ask, "Do you have plans later? Tonight?" tanong ng babae.

Saph shook her head, "No, after namin kumain siguro, diretcho uwi na lang. Wala kaming ibang plans eh. Why?" asked the older woman with a smile.

Nyeve's wavering stare at Saph was too sweet, and it left the latter feeling some butterflies in the pit of her stomach. "Well, I," She felt her voice crack out of nervousness which made her clear her throat a little, shy blush dusting her cheeks. "I kind of reserved a table sa isang pet friendly restaurant nearby and I want to ask you out for dinner again." aniya.

Saph was pleasantly surprised but before she could say something, Nyeve quickly spoke once more, "It feels like what I gave to you last night wasn't near enough so ayun..." dagdag niya while nibbling her lower lip, her fingers fidgeting.

Saph felt her heart melt at the intention but super satisfied at saya na nga niya kagabi dahil nasalubong niya ang birthday with her. And that was more than enough but for Nyeve, the ever glamorous she was, wasn't thoroughly satisfied with what she had already gave.

"It's more than enough for me, what you did last night," Saph assured her first before she added softly and sweetly, "But okay, dinner it is. With you and Sappy." aniya at ngumiti nang malaki.

A smile crawled on Nyeve's lips, relieved and in glee because napag-bigyan nanaman siya ni Saph na lumabas sila mamaya. "Okay! I'll meet you here at seven then?" asked Nyeve, suppressing her giddiness as she took Sappy back from her.

Saph hummed, "I'll fetch you." She confirmed, "Besides, need ko din naman dumaan dito ulit saglit since I promised Tita Rory." She added before hopping out of her car at pinagbuksan si Nyeve ng pintuan.

Nyeve got out, carrying the obedient Sappy in her arms, nodded in delight, "I'll see you later then. Tell your friends I said 'hi'." She said with a cheeky grin, showing off her whisker dimples.

Umalis na din si Saph after her promise that she would be back to fetch Nyeve for their dinner... friendly date, as Saph would like to call it.

She then finally met with her rowdy, excited friends in the mall before they went to the samgyupsal place kung saan sila kakain.

"Happy birthday, boss, ang main star for today's bidyow." Nathan greeted Saph first with a hug, then the others started to whistle.

"Yieee baka ma-fall ka nanaman kay Saph, Tan ha." biro ni Wyna habang lumalapit para bigyan din si Saph ng yakap, handing her a paperbag — most likely regalo niya sakanya. "Happy birthday, panget! Ang wish ko sayo, sana hindi mag-bago ka na." halakhak niya.

Saph rolled her eyes as she said her thanks, hugging Wyna back while Nathan grumbled under his breath, "Shuta, di pa din maka-move on? Tsaka baka mapatay ako ni Snow if magiging crush ko nanaman si Sapsap." aniya.
