Chapter 5

It wasn't too long a drive to the animal quarantine facility. When the car came to a stop and the door got opened, my father got out and then helped me out after him. We walked towards the door to the building and my father's head of security opened it up for him. I was amazed at the level of service that was being shown to my father and by extension me.

I have never had doors being opened for me like this and while I know normal girls could get used to this kind of treatment I was still not so sure, but I wouldn't say anything either as I wasn't really 100% settled here yet so I couldn't really judge things...yet. Once inside I found the reception area to be a nice comfortable temperature like within my father's home and I was hit with all the emotions within, although these I did kind of expect for this kind of environment.

A lot of anxiety and stress and worry as well as sadness, confusion and excitement. The last two were mostly from the animals not too far away from the main doors. Thankfully I, nor my father, took off my thin neck chain so that I couldn't be overwhelmed with too many emotions and with my father still holding my hand I latched onto his. I thought my father would go over to the main desk, but as soon as the middle aged lady and her male counterpart saw who just walked in, and after a brief moment of shock, the man quickly gets up without any words exchanged and eagerly opens the doors at the end of a short corridor and we follow behind him as he starts to say something in Arabic, but was quickly stopped by my father telling him to use english as I couldn't speak another language.

After a moment of confusion, but not wanting to anger my father he repeats what he just said so that I could understand him

"Welcome Miss Wittle-Malik, I hope you're adjusting well here so far. Mr Malik has told us you are eager for you to be reunited with your cats. They have been well looked after and they journeyed very well as well as we have just given them a vet check earlier this morning and following a few standard test results they should be ready to come home later today or early tomorrow morning."

I feel that he was trying to be extra professional, but he was being sincere and truthful so I reply in kind

"Thank you for taking good care of them as I was worried that the flight and climate change wouldn't sit well with them so I am really eager to get them to their new home and settled." He inclines his head as we make our way to the section for cats and I was more than thankful that they had only just had their yearly shots before I had to put them in the cattery back in Australia as well as a few other vaccinations.

He then leads us to another building and at first I was confused, but then I see that we were in a courtyard that was lined with outdoor enclosures that had an opening in the back against the wall of the building on either side of us that I assume was so that the cats can come and go as they please while being able to take in fresh air and sun.

I also saw that there were two doors, one next to the opening for the cats and one along the pathway we were on. These I guess was so that the enclosures could be easily cleaned. He walks past about three of these enclosures before I can feel them and hear their meows as the others were mostly empty and I let go of my father's hand to pick up my pace and come to stop in front of the one with my fur-babies in and see that they must have sensed me coming because they were there waiting for me.

I crouch down to greet them by the door and say with a huge smile on my face

"Hello bubba's, mummy's here. I have missed you so much!" They each try to get to my hands as they press against the cage so that my fingers poke through and they meow even louder. I hear my father's amused chuckle and feel our escort's bored wonderment that I look up at them and say

"What?"

It was the man, who's name I didn't catch, that speaks first and I feel my father's slight annoyance, but he otherwise says nothing
