Leo's POV
' Not my problem '
This wasn't how I expected my day to go after leaving Camp Jupiter. Not at all. I thought I was gonna meet up with Apollo/Lester, Meg (I'm also TERRIFIED of that girl), Piper McLean, and the best person to ever exist, Jason 'Brick-Lover' Grace, and have a good time. And possibly let Jason know how I feel about him. But that would be a bonus.
I should've known it wasn't gonna be like that. When your a demigod, nothing is ever like that.
Anyway, I was riding on Festus' back, going to meet the crew (I should make up a group name for them at some point). I was wearing a purple shirt with gold words on it. I have no clue what it said since I don't read Latin. I just took it since Frank was feeling nice to me and gave me it since my other shirt was ruined.
I landed Festus to where this crew was directing it to land. One of the crew members asked me if I needed any fuel or anything. I responded with, "Nah. But if you could give my boy a wash and a wax, and maybe find him some Tabasco sauce, that'd be great."
Festus roared, approving what I said.
Then I jogged over to the Apollo crew (I'LL MAKE UP A BETTER NAME SOON!) with a huge smile plastered on my face. "The party can start now! There's my peeps!" I told them.
I hugged them all, even Meg, who seemed like she was gonna kill me for doing that. None of them spoke though. Weird. I should lighten up the mood for them.
"Man, what's up with y'all? Did you guys get hit with a flash grenade?" The mood stayed the same. Okay, maybe just tell them what happened in New Rome. "Okay, I have good news and bads new from our pals in New Rom-" My voice faltered. I stopped smiling. Where was Jason? Shouldn't he be with them?
"Where's Jason?" I asked them.

Piper immediately broke down in tears. She also fell against me and told me the whole story. She told me how Jason sacrificed himself so they could defeat Caligula. I broke down in tears aswell, possibly worse then Piper did. I burried my face in the crook of her neck. It's my fault. I should've known that coming back alive would kill him. The prophecy stated, 𝙏𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙤𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙖𝙡. I caused my best friend's death. All my fault. I kill everyone who I get closed to.
After a few minutes, I lifted my head out of Piper's neck and wiped the tears on my cheeks. My eyes went to the cargo hold, then landed on the diorama in the fallen god's hands.
"I-I couldn't even say goodbye," I managed to say without breaking into tears.
Piper shook her head. "None of us could. It all happened so fast. He just-"
"Did what Jason always did," I said." He saved the day."
Piper took a shaky breath. "What about the news from New Rome?"
"My news?" I choked back a sob. "Who cares about my news after that?"
Piper punched my arm. I was waiting for that. "Apollo told me about Camp Jupiter."
I was tapping 'I love you' and 'It's okay' on my thighs in Morse code. The 'I love you' is for Jason and 'It's okay' is for myself. "We stopped the attack, mostly. There's a lot of a damage. We lost a lot of good people. That's the bad news." I glanced at the cargo hold. "Frank's okay. Hazel, Reyna. That's the good news." I shivered. "I can't even think right now. Is this normal? Forgetting how to think?"
Apollo looked like he wanted to say something, but the captain came down the steps. "Miss McLean? Sorry to interrupt, but we are queued for departure. If we don't wanna lose our window-"
"Yeah," Piper said. "Of course. Meg, Apollo, you two go. I'll be fine with Coach and Mellie. Leo-"
I crossed my arms. "You're not getting rid of my that easily, McLean. You've earned a bronze dragon escort to Oklahoma."
"Leo-" Piper tried to argue, but I interrupted.
"Nope! No argueing about this! Plus, it's more or less on the way to Indianapolis."
Piper's smile reminded me of fog. "You're settling in Indianapolis, me in Tahlequah. We're going places, huh?"
I turned to Apollo and Meg. "Go on, you two. Take Jason home. Do him right. Camp Jupiter should still be there."

After what seemed like forever, I got back to the way station. Lityeres was in the living room, hanging out with Georgia. They both turned towards me.
"How was it?" Lit asked. "Did you get to see Jason?"
Right. Forgot I told him that part. I tried my hardest to not cry. "No, I didn't. He-" But then I broke down. Georgia ran to me and squeezed me tight. She must've known what I meant.
A few seconds later, Lityeres joined us in the hug. I think I needed this. Real bad.
And I don't know if its just me, but I could've sworn I felt someone from behind hug me. But when I checked, there was nothing.
