Thank you for all the reads!

"You need to realize, Y/n, that you are slowly killing yourself."

Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, has died.

The news was quite shocking. Even though you never met him yourself, Mitsuri would gush about what a great person he was every now and then. He was someone to be admired.

The morning after your talk with Mitsuri, the two of you were relaxing outside her estate on a bench after a filling breakfast, just having a leisurely chat.

A crow flew down in between you, and announced its message:

"Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, has been defeated by Upper Moon Three!"

You couldn't help but let out a small gasp. Mitsuri slapped a hand against her mouth, eyes widened in utter shock at the announcement.

You remembered how she burst into tears moments after the crow flew away, clinging onto you tightly. Despite not knowing the guy yourself, seeing Mitsuri this distraught made you a bit teary-eyed.

You were also discouraged that one of the corps strongest demon slayers was killed by an Upper Moon demon. Everybody probably was, something as big as that would definitely have an effect on everyone. It just proved how strong Muzan's forces actually were.

It suddenly clicked as you were trying to comfort Mitsuri. Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu were also on that mission. You could even imagine the pain they must be going through.. watching someone so important die..

You knew the feeling all too well.

...

A few weeks had passed since then. Mitsuri had gone back to her usual self, though sometimes you would catch her zoning out or with a sad look in her eyes.

You wished you could have helped more.

Tanjiro had not sent a letter since then, and you were beginning to grow worried. Were they hurt? You didn't know, but you wanted to go visit them soon.

Your training had kept going, and you were making great progress with each passing day. Mitsuri was a great host, and somehow had a new recipe of food for you to try every day.

You heaved a breath, gulping down water after another day of harsh training. Your muscles were aching, but that just added to the thrill.

The only struggle was your condition, but you noticed it slowly began to not be much of an issue as time went on.

"Y/N!! I'VE GOT IT!!"

Ah, yes. Mitsuri.

You watched as your basically-now-best-friend (you spent a lot of time with her. A LOT.) skip up to you as you place your water bottle on the ground.

She was holding a long rope, you noticed, and grinned trying not to laugh as Mitsuri got her feet tangled up fell to the ground. She was back up at the speed of light though, dusting herself off.

Your eyes widened in surprise as she abruptly shoved the rope into your unsuspecting hands. You peered at it curiously, wondering why Mitsuri would give you this so suddenly. Maybe she wanted you to choke someone. You would have if she asked, because you cared about Mitsuri a lot more than you would like to admit.

"Err.. what's this for? Will I be fighting demons with a rope now?.." You asked, voicing your thoughts as you let some of the rope fall to the ground with a thump.

You deadpanned as you watched Mitsuri laugh and wave a hand.

"Oh, no, nothing of the sort! You know how you've been telling me that wielding your current sword is still a bit of a struggle?"
