Hi.. real long wait for this one huh

...

"Okay, okay. I guess that's.. kinda smart. But let's get her down, so we can figure out what to do with her."

Boom.

"Did you hear that?"

After successfully getting Hatsumi down, your body eventually gave out and you fell to the ground, much to your disappointment. Mitsuri then burst into tears, which led you to conclude it was the reality of the situation that had crashed down on her.

You weren't surprised, you did have a traumatized orphan with you and had no idea what to do with her. You were resting your back on a tree as you groggily watched Mitsuri halt her pacing and look at you.

"Hear what?"

You listened again.

Boom. Boom. Boom.

Could she not hear that? You swore you could feel the ground tremor a bit. It was odd, the noise was coming from the direction of the Entertainment District, but surely nothing was happening.

You were afraid to worry Mitsuri and Hatsumi more, so you just chalked it off as fireworks and you smiled at Mitsuri and Hatsumi.

"It's nothing.. But are y-"

BOOOOOOM.

Now everyone heard that one. The ground shook violently, sending poor Hatsumi falling to the floor. Mitsuri reacted fast though, and caught her head before it hit the ground.

Feeling as if the world was tilting, you placed a hand to the ground to steady yourself. What on earth was that? Was a demon capable of the sort of noise? No, you found that hard to believe; unless it was an Upper moon.

You wanted to go investigate. People could be injured for all you know, and you were just sitting there like a rock. Sure, you were injured, but still, you probably could muster up enough strength to get over there.

"W-what was that?.."

Hatsumi looked so small, and was shivering against Mitsuri. She was gently rubbing her back as an attempt to soothe her.

"I don't.. I don't know. Mitsuri?" You shot Mitsuri a knowing look.

She nodded curtly, understanding your unspoken message. She held a look a fear and concern in her eyes, which made your heart ache.

Steadying your breathing, you hopped to your feet. Then, you began to sprint in the direction of the.. explosion. It obviously wasn't a good idea to be moving while in your state, but you had to admit your curiosity was getting the best of you. Especially if whatever that was was possibly a threat.

You were level with your breathing, so you weren't able to feel as much pain as you ran. Trees whizzed past you, and soon, the smell of smoke exploded in your nose.

Ugh. What a disgusting smell. Your eyes filled with tears from the smoke, but you blinked them away and tried to ignore it as best you could.

Soon growing impatient, you sprinted even faster as you wondered how you had brought your fight with the demon so far back into the woods. Tch, whatever. It didn't matter, now that it was dead.

You slowed down as you neared the city, trying but failing to blink the smoke out of your eyes. Luckily for you, the smoke was settling so you wouldn't have to breathe it in for much longer.

Wait a minute. Shouldn't the city be right here?

It was in fact, supposed to be, but as you traveled further and the dust settled, you saw the destruction. It was enormous. Entire buildings destroyed, debris under every step you took, it was an absolute devastation. No way it was a demon. What could have wiped out the entire city? Where were the people?
