Hazel's Pov

Six months later

"I'm on my way Alexa,I just need to finish with this" I typed away on my laptop as I held my phone with my shoulder.

"Okay, we need you here right now!" Alexa yelled into the phone making me chuckle.

"I've got work to do!. Bye babe" I ended the call as I sorted the last emails and sent to my boss. I shut the laptop, drowning the glass of smoothie.

I rinsed the glass cup with water, before keeping it in the cabinet. Goi g into the bathroom, to have a bath.

I came out a couple of minutes later because I was getting late and I wouldn't want penelope's trouble. I grabbed a black flair gown matching it up with a black heels. I packed my hair in a ponytail.

Grabbing my bag, keeping my laptop inside of it as I walked out of my flat before locking it up. I jogged down the stairs, trying to catch up with time because I was late already.

Luckily for me, I hailed a Taxi. I got into the car, keeping my bag beside of me.

"Hey" I greeted the driver as he replied me with a simple nod. "Penny's corporation" I gave him the address as he drove away.

I back at my hometown now, trying to start up a new chapter in my life. I know it's not easy but I'm trying.

Trying to forget all about him even if it's really hard, because he's all I think about.

"Madam" He called my attention. I paid him, climbing out of the car.

Monday morning with Penelope Ambrose. My favorite combos!

Just at the thought of her, my phone rang. I dug into my bag, grabbing my phone out just to see she was the one calling.

"Thought of the devil" I scoffed as I picked the call.

"Good morning Ms Ambrose" I greeted, forcing a smile on my face.

"Whatever" She said. "I need you to get me some coffee and a chocolate muffin?"

Please. I added for her in my mind.

"Money?" I asked curtly and I know I'm gonna get a punishment for that.

"You're asking for money?"

"Yes ma'am" I replied.

"Hazel. I'm paying you salary and if you can't get coffee for your boss on a Monday morning then I wonder what sort of assistant you are" She said harshly making me roll my eyes.

"I'm sorry Ms Ambrose. I'd get that for you"

"Great. Now don't get late to work okay?"

"Yes ma'am" She ended the call as I harshly shoved my phone into the bag.

"Bitch" I cursed under my breath as I crossed to the other side of the road, going to the café opposite our firm to get her coffee and of course myself.

I pushed the door open, walking towards the counter.

"Good morning Hazel" Lily chirped making me smile.

"Good morning Lily" I greeted. "I'd like to have a dark coffee with a chocolate muffin" I ordered.

"And for you?" She asked making me prop a brow. "How do you know that isn't for me?"

"Let's just say everyone knows that's Penelope's orders" She shrugged making me chuckle.

"You know she hates it when she's been called by her name and not Ms Ambrose"

"Good thing she ain't my boss" I shook my head at Lily as I placed my order. "I'd love a shot of espresso and please scribble our name on the cups" I thanked her as I walked to sit at the booth waiting for my other to be ready.

I scrolled through Instagram as I clicked on Alexa's story. She's at the beach house with her girlfriend as they laughed and all. If not of that blood sucking boss of mine, I'd be there too.

"Hazel?" Lily called me. I dropped my phone in my bag, grabbing it as I strolled towards her.

"Your order" she handed me the tray of coffees and a bag of muffin as I paid her and walked out of the café. I crossed to the other side of the road, going into our firm.

I greeted the receptionist as I walked towards the elevator, pressing the button of penelope's floor and I as I got in.

"Hold up" Jake's voice called out as he ran, using his hand to stop the elevator from closing up.

"Jake!" I smiled at him as he got into the elevator.

"Good morning Hazel" He flashed me his dimpled smile making me smirk softly.

"I got you coffee" He raised the cup of coffee up, making me smile.

"You didn't have to"

"But I did anyway. How was your night rest?" He asked changing the conversation.

Jake has been nothing but nice to me since I started working as Penelope's assistant in this firm. He's nice to everyone but always super nice to me.

"If sorting out unnecessarily files, your boss has sent to me is having a good night rest then I sure did" I nagged making him chuckle.

"She does stresses you out" he said.

"The pay is worth it tho. It pays my bills off" I shrugged as the elevator door opened after making a 'ding' sound.

We both strolled out of the elevator. "Keep that coffee for later Jake" I said. "And thank you" He smiled at me nodding.

"Yes Ms Brown" I shook my head as he walked away, going towards his office. I walked into my office, dropping my back down alongside with my coffee.

I strolled out of my office, going towards Penelope's own. Another Monday of stress.

Gosh! I hate my work!

I smiled as I gazed out at the sun-kissed beach, feeling the warm and between my toes. It was hard to believe it had been six months since I'd left Spain, leaving behind the drama and heartache.

"Hey, Haz! What's on your mind?" Alexa asked, joining me on the beach towel.

I shrugged, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me. "Just grateful for this new chapter in my life. I'm finally living the life I deserve."

"I'm so glad you're here with us," Oliver said, plopping down beside us. "We've missed you, girl!"

"I've missed you guys too," I replied, feeling a sense of belonging. "I don't know what I would have done without you both."

"We're glad you're doing okay," Alexa said, nudging me with her elbow. "You deserve all the happiness in the world after everything you've been through."

"I'm trying to focus on the present and not dwell on the past," I said, taking a sip of my fruity cocktail. "I'm just grateful to be surrounded by good friends and to be living in my hometown again."

"That's the spirit, Haz!" Oliver exclaimed. "We're going to make sure you never go through anything like that again."

"I know I can always count on you guys," I said, smiling.

As we spent the day soaking up the sun and laughter, I knew I'd made the right decision. I'd closed the door on my past and embraced a brighter future.

"Let's make a pact to always be there for each other," Alexa said, holding out her hand.

"Absolutely," Oliver agreed, placing his hand on top of Alexa's.

I placed my hand on top of theirs, feeling a sense of unity. "Together, forever."

And with that, I knew I was finally home, surrounded by love, friendship, and a sense of peace that I'd never thought possible.
