I finally figured out how to get out of the room—all I had to do was walk through the door. It felt strange, like stepping through a thin veil, but I pushed that thought aside and decided to explore. The hallways were empty, with nothing but silence stretching out before me. No lights, no beeping machines, just a deafening stillness.

As I wandered through the corridors, I suddenly heard something—a faint sound, like distant talking. I stopped in my tracks, straining to listen. Was I imagining things?

"Hello...?" My voice echoed in the empty hall, sounding small and uncertain. "Is anyone there?"

I called out again, more desperate this time, hoping for any sign that I wasn't completely alone. The thought of encountering someone else scared me, but the idea of endless solitude scared me even more.

But as I continued to walk, doubt crept in. Maybe I was alone after all. I had wandered through almost every room on this floor, and I hadn't seen a single person. Not a single sign of life. The emptiness gnawed at me.

Determined to find the source of the voices, I decided to go up a floor. The talking grew louder, more distinct, but still just out of reach. It felt like I was being led somewhere, drawn toward the sound. Was it possible that there were others here, just as lost and confused as I was? Or was this something else entirely?

I wouldn't know unless I kept looking.

As I climbed the stairs, the voices became clearer. They were right around the corner now, just beyond the next door. My heart—or whatever was left of it—pounded in anticipation.

Finally, I dipped my head into a room, and that's when I saw what I had been hearing all along.
