A Reject trying to live life ends up falling in love

Chapter 3: Jesse

I woke up in bed to my mother calling my name. I got out of bed and walked to my door. I opened it to see my sister In front of it. She took my arm and dragged me downstairs.

"C'mon jessie. You're such a sleepyhead! You are late to breakfast. Mom has been Calling you."

"Sorry ."

"It's alright Jesse. Just explain to her why you slept late."

"Alright I will."

We walked downstairs and got to the kitchen. Once we got there we sat at our seats. We grabbed our food and we ate. We got dressed and headed to school. She went to the left as we left the house and I went to the right. We go to different high schools.

I started to walk towards a crosswalk. I got to the crosswalk as I stopped to press the button. As I was waiting I heard footsteps and people coming up. I recognized the voices. I turned my head slightly to see none other than Mayumi. My childhood crush. She got to me and she was talking to her friends.

She noticed me As i started to blush. I looked away quickly as the crosswalk sign turned white. I started walking to cross the street. Once I got across I heard Mayumi's voice get lower and lower. When I got to the school I saw my friend who greeted me.

"Hey! What's going on man!" Philip said

"Nothing much bro. How's life treating ya?" I said

"Not bad. Just hoping to get a girlfriend soon." Philip responded.

"Man, I know you'll get one soon." I reassured him.

"How's trying to get Mayumi to fall for ya going?" He asked me.

"It's hard. She's so popular. I wish I could just ask her out. But our social roles in school are totally different." I responded with a sad expression.

"Jessie. Man up. Someone will take your love from ya. Don't let her go man. You'll regret it eventually." He responded with concern.

"I know Philip. I just need the right moment. And when no one is around. I don't want to ruin her social standings just for dating a geek like me." I responded with no self esteem.

"Man you really need to get more self esteem and confidence. This doesn't suit you." He said. "I know.. I just was raised like crap.. So I have no self-esteem and confidence in myself." I said with a sad look in my eyes.

"Well. Let's just get to class, man. We'll be graduating in two months. Let's just focus on that." He reassured me. 

 "Alright Philip." I said. 

 We walked towards the school. I saw Mayumi alone as I walked up to her. I got to her and she gave me a confused expression. I started speaking to her. 

 "H..hey Mayumi.. H..how are you today..?"

"I'm alright?" she said, confused.

"W..well.. I have something to tell you.." I stuttered when saying it from nervousness. 

 "What is it?" Mayumi said, confused.

"I like you Mayumi.. please will you be my girlfriend!" I say stuttering. 

 "I'm sorry Jesse. But I have a boyfriend already. I can't return your feelings. "O..oh it's alright..." I said while looking down at the floor.

"It's alright. But I do need to get to my class. So if you'll excuse me." She said in a hurry. 

 I look down as she walks away quickly. I slump towards my next period as I bump into someone who was running. I got up from the floor and held out my hand.
