What exactly is love? It's a complicated emotion, easy to experience, hard to digest. This book is suppose to be about a guy who falls in love with a girl but everything I do puts me on a pathway to chaos and destruction, feeling nothing but a failure as my close friends surrounded me who couldn't bare to look at me as I laid defeated both spiritually and physically.
"Joshua's victory looked like he took the soul of out of you."
"Yeah. Don't think we're strong enough to take down someone who knows the 64 Trigrams." I muttered trying to eat the Congee that lay infront of me. I could barely eat, the hard memories of the defeat against SB repeating in my head over and over again.
"Well, we'll need to start from scratch; rebuild." I stated, to which caused Wilson to shake his head slowly as he folded his arms, unimpressed.
"Well that's going to take awhile." He said, adjusting his glasses.
"Devilman took his LSA boys to join SB. We're back to being named YK."
"Bonnie admitted to being Wayne's ex, he's going to use that situation to gain some leverage." Wilson explained, causing me to shrug, unaware of such facts presented to me.
"Feels reasonable."
"And it's within his reason, of course. He's not going down with another fight."
"We have nothing left to give. Our God Card has been taken away from us." I stated, to which Wilson laughed.
"Plus he's planning on forcing Bonnie to move into the same school as him if she doesn't corporate."
"Stupid decision if Bonnie agrees to that. Devilman won't look after her at school." I groaned.
"We need to look for any of our boys that go to that school."
"That's no body from YK, cuz." Killer-D said firmly.
"And of our allies?"
"Allies? You talking about befriending 4AE?" I nodded slowly, to which Wilson scoffed.
"Good luck with that, Thaibo would want a brawl, and kids vicious."
"Yeah, so I heard." I murmured, reminiscing at the fact that he was once a YK member until he left when Little Smile-Li departed.
"I can help set it up. My sister hangs out with his girlfriend, Shabeen." Frankie pointed out, to which I nodded again.
"Okay. I'll leave it up to you Frankie. The sooner the better."
"But you're in crutches." It was then I looked at Killer-D, our eyes meeting briefly.
"Do you want to take the fight if it comes down to it?" I asked him.
"No way bro. Namco- his older brother, lives on my street. There's no chance I'm taking that risk."
"Okay. I'll just have to face the music on my own." I placed a rock candy in my mouth. Nice; Warheads. I began wriggling the lollie in my mouth as I pondered in thought.
"Stuff it, if he asks to brawl I'll just do it handicapped. We never saw eye to eye anyway, and I'm sure he's going to want vengeance when I stopped him from joining back due to politics."
"He was one of our best, probably matching close to your skill level. He can easily take on three of us. I don't know why you didn't just accept him back, he could've helped you fight Joshua with Akira." Wilson pointed out, raising his arms up in the air innocently.
"The moment I do that then everyone's going to want to leave at will. Under no circumstances will I allow our boys to be granted such freedom; freedom that's detrimental to the strength of our crew."
"He's only sixteen can you give the kid a break?" Frankie asked, to which caused me to purse my lips frustratingly.
"Whatever. Let's set the meeting."
-
"Sup loser. Heard you needed me, and I know this must be important considering you didn't mention my God Card." Thaibo said, smirking.
"We don't have any good cards to contest for a God Card anyway." I began.
"Besides, it's us who needs help." I said, to which Thaibo turned around to CJ and Happy who remained nonchalant.
"The infamous Jordan Yang who requires my assistance? Well you should've told me that earlier when I requested to join YK's ranks again."
"Relax, Thaibo; we both know why I refused to bring you back in."
"And it was a blessing in disguise; I'm now in a gang who not only house a God Card, but lets me do whatever I want."
"Freedom is the last thing you require. What you need is control, patience, and mastery of your anger."
"Boo hoo, go cry about it to your mum." He said, gesturing a tear drop rolling down his cheeks.
"Your crew has too many rules to follow, at least Anh 'Em have more freedom." Thaibo turned to CJ who was too busy reading a book, his eyes fixated on the blurb almost as if he had just brought it recently. My YK boys who sat on the benches began murmuring to themselves as I raised my hand up.
"A hierarchy becomes meaningless without its rules. If there wasn't something to work for I may as well be leading an army of zombies." I said, lowering my hand as the boys stopped gossiping behind me.
"You stick to oldschool tradition, it's not going to work in this day and age, not when showing off power provides more power, welding these Yu-Gi-Oh cards that determines one's worth? Best thing my older brother had ever invented for the delinquent scene, stops me from having to challenge everyone now."
"I get what you're saying Thai but showing off power is not part of our culture." Thaibo scoffed at my response to which he looked at me from head to toe, causing me to stiffen up slightly.
"If there's one thing 4AE has taught me is that power invokes fear, and when there is fear you don't have to do much; a persons mind becomes one's own enemy." He said simply, CJ looking up with a smile. I was struck in awe at how mature Thai was acting, and it was honestly a breath of fresh air.
"Who taught you such philosophy?" I asked.
"My oldest brother. He wishes you well." He groaned, peering away as if being sentimental made him feel uncomfortable. I scratched my chin and smiled uncontrollably at who he was mentioning.
"Sometimes I ask myself if I still have much to teach you." I said as I chuckled.
"Told you I'm doing well bro." To which Happy couldn't help but cover his mouth. Was he teaching him too?
"Fine. I still want to pair up though." I said, scrunching his hair as he brushed my hand away.
"You're ruining my Gatsby you idiot." To which CJ laughed at our interaction. It was good seeing the boys smile for once.
"Alright. I'll think about it, but can you tell Akira that he owes me a card at school tomorrow?" Thaibo asked as he folded his arms, CJ looking in awe as he thought Thai was asking something of interest. We exchanged glances of curiosity and it wasn't until I understood.
"You want his card?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"He won't go down without a fight." I said adamantly.
"Take his card for me and I'll reconsider."
"His Red-Eyes would be perfect." CJ said joyfully, Happy trying hard to not laugh. Did he know I wasn't capable or that I didn't want to?
"Just do it for the kids Jay." Happy said finally, knowing my fears for asking was getting the better of me.
"Fine. I'll arrange it." I said finally.
