"The heck do you think you're doing here, Jordan?" He said simply as the two of us stood eye to eye infront of Delahey McDonalds. I wore my blue blazer from Gilson College, the private school which stood high opposite Copperfield on the main road of Delahey.
"I got given the OK from your brother to allow you back into YK." I said, standing inbetween Moxy, Kenny, and Bee-K who all had lollipops in their mouths, their hands hidden in our largely infamous blue blazer pockets.
"And if I refuse?" Thaibo said, standing beside CJ, Trinh, and Happy who looked like they didn't want to be here but were forced.
"Your brother is not a good person." I said quickly.
"Not a good person? He never fails to put food on the table for me and mum every night."
"Do you even know what he does for a living? The money he's making is short term, it won't always be consistent."
"Look Jordan, I don't need you butting into my family business, and you can tell Peter I said thank you for supplying my boys a months supply of pop, but at the end of the day my life isn't yours to orchestrate."
"Okay. You leave me no choice." I said, blowing a whistle with my fingers inside my mouth, Emily appearing with Shabeen and Jen.
"Shabeen?"
"Hey, how's your training going?" She asked, folding her arms as she looked away, disinterested as she stood infront of the boys who sat back against the timber benches.
"Yeah good, doesn't hurt to text me every once in awhile." He said, snickering.
"I have been, look." Shabeen said, revealing several text messages sent in a row on seperate days.
"Your brother, Namco- is too strict; his rules are ruining our three year long relationship."
"What my brother says is for a reason, and it's usually for good measure." He explained, clutching onto his bag.
"I'm willing to bend a few rules for you bro." I said simply, the boys looking up in curiosity.
"That doesn't mean I'm going to break my pact and simply hand Julie over just because you've done me a solid." To which I shook my head in response.
"That's fine, I trust you with her." I said, putting my hands in my pocket as I played with a Warhead in my mouth.
"Could do with more lollipops though." I murmured.
"You practically control the lollipop market, why you stressing?" Thaibo asked me. He was right for one thing, lollipops were a high commodity, but despite such accessibility we were told to only eat them after treating ourselves instead of forming bad habits.
"Your brothers haven't told you? They want me to supply the Azumi clan in exchange for cards." I said, handing him a few blisters. Thaibo passed them onto CJ who glared at them.
"These look legit." CJ said in awe.
"You can have a blister, consider it a present from me." I said, smiling as CJ for once in his life stopped reading.
"Thaibo let's open up the cards!" CJ said excitedly. Thaibo peered over at Shabeen who looked unimpressed.
"We'll open them at school tomorrow." He murmured.
"That settles it. We have the cards and the lollipops; that makes us formidable amongst your brothers meaning if you're not going to join YK then you'll have no choice but to accept all of us as part of your crew."
"My crew is strictly family only, and we stay hidden."
"How about we do everything you guys don't want to do in terms of being exposed to the public eye, giving you guys the chance to still remain hidden. That's a deal you can't refuse."
"For what? Just to hang out?" He said, giving me a confused look.
"I'm familiar with the fact that not many boys know that you're the holder of the Obelisk, which makes you a target if anyone finds out." I began.
"If that's the case, we can take the blame for it and defend it on your behalf."
"Why?"
"We can bring gangs to our domain, where we can comfortably fight on our territory. Fighting in familiar terrain gives us home advantage. It's a win for you, and more things for us to do." There was a silence between everyone, Thaibo wanting more answers as I sighed.
"To be honest, we only just recently picked up on the Yu-Gi-Oh trend, and we want in. We want to stay relevant, we don't want to die- that's everyone's worse nightmare."
"Hah, so you do chase fame."
"Only cause the boys need a morale boost, I've trained them to not fall for such temptations but the more I teach them the ways of the wolf the more they lose hope; like they have nothing to fight for."
"Don't think Julie would want you be in the spotlight." He frowned.
"Precisely why Wilson is going to be taking on that role while I work in the shadows." Thaibo thought for a moment as he scratched his chin, looking over at his boys who shrugged.
"Alright. I suppose so." He said, extending his arm at me.
"We'll shake hands once I figure out how to make Namco more lenient with girls for you and your boys. I already have something in mind but that's for me to think about and for you to not stress." Shabeen who stood behind Thaibo smiled briefly.
"Alright. You have my trust, it'll be good to be friends with a cliche that has experience in the game."
"You bet." I said, gesturing my friends from school to get up from the benches.
"Let's go guys, time to train." I said to them, the boys groaning.
