SCOTLAND. OCTOBER 1, 1989

“Come again! Have a nice day.” The young woman said as she attended her final customer. It was a gloomy, slow night. She was feeling tired when her boyfriend rushed in already wet from the rain. “I’ll make you a coffee love” the woman, Mary said kissing her lover’s cheek. It was as if then, suddenly her stomach started blowing up as a balloon. “HELP! MY GIRLFRIEND! PLEASE! SOMETHING’S HAPPENING TO HER!” the man yelled attracting the passer-by people. Few people surrounded the young woman as an older lady helped her. It was a miracle. Within few minutes she birthed a beautiful baby. She was glowing… almost as if she was made of light itself.


On the twelfth hour of first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual, I mean the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreaves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.


“Extraordinary!” a man with a monocle exclaimed approaching the couple. “What do you want?” the young man stood up blocking the baby and the woman. “The child. How much do you want for it?” Reginald Hargreaves asked pulling out a suitcase. “She’s not for sale!” young Mary said still anguished and tied from the sudden childbirth. “You surely don’t want to raise it do you?” Reginald asked almost mockingly. The young man looked conflicted. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to raise a baby who popped up out of nowhere. After a while of arguing and crying the couple agreed to sell the baby.
