Karlie heard her phone ring from its position on the bedside table. She sighed and turned her head to the side, facing her phone. She didn't have to look to know who it was. She listened as it rang and rang, vibrating with each ring. She watched as the light from it lit up its surrounding, waiting for it to go to voicemail. Again.

It had been a week since Taylor and Karlie had kissed. A week since Josh's accident. It was also the longest amount of time the girls had gone without speaking since becoming friends.

Karlie realized that over the last few months since meeting Taylor, she had become attached to the singer. That bond only grew once Taylor started to frequent New York more and more. Karlie started to miss the singer whenever she couldn't be in the city, she started to hold onto every laugh, however small, the blonde released, and she started to appreciate the simplest of gestures from the singer. Who knew she could ever cherish a hug so much?

At first, Karlie tried telling herself that her feelings were normal. Of course she cared about the singer, who wouldn't? Taylor was sweet, welcoming, funny and nonjudgmental; she was easy to love. Maybe Karlie was even a little star struck, she had been listening to her music for years and had always been a fan. Maybe what she was feeling was simply admiration for the other girl. And the model had almost believed herself when she told herself those things, but then Taylor kissed her and she knew her feelings were pass admiration.

She hated to admit that as she stood there in Taylor's kitchen, with the singer in her arms, she had already planned on breaking up with Josh. But then one stupid phone call changed everything. It made her sick to her stomach knowing she had just cheated on her two yearlong boyfriend that she had been so ready to dump the guy she had claimed to love. That wasn't who she was. Never in her life had she been so inconsiderate of other people's feelings.

Her thoughts were interrupted but her phone's ring, but once again she didn't answer. She wanted to pick up the phone. Every time she had seen Taylor's name come across her screen she had wanted to answer. Every time she got a new text from her, she wanted to reply. A few times she had thought of calling herself but she couldn't do it, the guilt was too much.

Finally she decided to get out of bed, she had a long day ahead of her and she still hadn't had breakfast. Today Josh was going to be released, becoming Karlie's responsibility. The doctors had assure her he would make a full recovery, but when Karlie had first laid eyes on him in the ICU he looked far from fine. He had barely been able to speak with the tube in his mouth, his entire body was bruised up; he had a bandaged head, a broken leg and three broken ribs. She was truly amazed at the difference a shower and six days could make. But regardless of how much better he looked now, the memory of him in that bed still haunted her. She wouldn't think of Taylor today. No, today would be all about her boyfriend.

Once Karlie was out of her apartment building she took a much needed deep breath.

Thankfully the model didn't have trouble finding a cab, and in a matter of minutes she was on her way to her favorite café.

Taylor watched as the steam from the cup she held in her hands rose, quickly disappearing into the room. The bell rang once more, signaling the presence of yet another customer, but Taylor paid little attention to it and kept her eyes on her coffee. Her thoughts once more wondered to the green eyed girl, it wasn't rare for her to be thinking of the model, however, at that moments she really couldn't keep herself from thinking of her. Sitting in the café they had had their first 'date'. It was on that very table that she had realized her feelings for Karlie, feelings which she thought would go away but in reality had only grown stronger with time.

Taylor found it to be a cruel joke that at the time she had felt like nothing would ever separate her and Karlie; that their friendship would stand the test of time, yet here she was, just two months later and their friendship seemed to have already come to an end.

"Why did I have to kiss her?" Taylor murmured quietly to herself as she leaned her head against the window, looking up at the sky. It had grown darker since Taylor had arrived, grey clouds now covering the entire sky; rain no doubt approaching. "Everything would have been so simple if I hadn't." Then again she kissed me back.

Taylor knew her logic was faulty given the fact she had been sleeping with Dianna, yet she couldn't help herself from thinking that this was different. At least she hoped it was.

Taylor sighed as rain started to gently hit the café's windows, her coffee growing cold. As she continued staring outside, she noticed a tall figure running towards the café, clearly trying to avoid getting wet. Her heart skipped a beat when she realized who it was. This seemed too good to be true, could she really just randomly run into Karlie after a week of going without talking? It was such a rare thing for Taylor to run into people outside industry event, the last thing that had happened was years ago with Dianna, that she was almost convince she was hallucinating when she saw Karlie enter the café, making the small bell ring once again.

She observed the model as placed her order, completely oblivious of the singer's stare. Karlie finally turned around, walking in Taylor's direction not yet noticing the blonde. Taylor was still watching the model when Karlie finally looked in the singer's direction. As their eyes met, the rain outside started pouring at a faster rate.
