As I entered the comfort of my bed, I took a good look at the day I was about to leave behind. First of all, the speech seemed to have caught the wide majority of the workplace by surprise. Also, the boss' departure didn't curse anyone with misery. And finally, the staff didn't create any commotion at the replacement of our boss with me. So overall, the day was great. But something still lingered inside me.

My memories, coming back to haunt me. My mind returned to memories long forgotten and put aside. But now, they were the main subject once again. I pondered on the trauma that was the final moments of my last life. And, in turn, went to the motion that my life was a simulation. But, if so, was this a different one from my first life? If not, why hadn't the man I knew as Julius's grandfather, who was, from what he had described, someone from the real world and the creator of the simulation, just ended it, and caused me no longer to exist? If not, whose simulation was this exactly? But, the last thing that crossed my tired mind, was that it wasn't a simulation, that it was just some twisted trick, that any moment now, Julius would jump out of a random closet or wardrobe and would reveal that we were just in a worldwide play where I was the only one who was featured that hadn't given consent.

You don't need to know about my dreams, but... I'll tell you anyway. So I was walking out of my house when suddenly, a giant kangaroo came up to me. The beast had a humongous sign dangling from its neck that read, 'BIGGEST KANGAROO IN HISTORY.' But then an even bigger gorilla came up to it and it had a sign too, 'BIGGEST GORILLA IN HISTORY.' And suddenly, they began to tussle, and somewhere along the line, the kangaroo picked me up and dashed me at the gorilla. And instead of dodging or catching me... IT ATE ME. Then I woke up.

So once that happened, I got out of bed and brushed my teeth. I forgot how long I brushed, but it certainly was not the recommendation of 2 minutes, what happened next, I know I did do something, just not what. Anyway, I dressed and decamped through the door prepared for the day ahead.

Once I had arrived at work, I began to remember my brief contemplation before bed, which in my mind, was not long ago. Bursting my bubble was inevitable, so someone had to do it. "Hey, you OK over there Dan, you look a bit unhinged," one of the newbies vocalised intending to shake me from my half asleep conscience.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I made clear something that I didn't even know myself. I was about to walk towards my desk, but only as I reached it, I realised that I had a new one. Because I was the boss now. I had a whole office to myself. Once again, my mind began to wander through the possibilities of my new occupation. Whether I would be a good boss, a fair and just one, or a cruel and tyrannical one. I made sure my insecurities did not manifest themselves onto my face. Once I had left the comfort, or rather discomfort, of my mind, I made my way towards my new office.

I had never even taken the time to admire the entire room in its entirety. The marble walls were breathtaking, housing a formation of holographic displays that made billions of calculations each millisecond, gracing the dense walls with their presence. The room's walls were constantly shifting. I once again felt that I had entered another dimension.

Then, old the desk that was now my own, the futuristic marvel of it was absolutely seamless. The otherworldly sensitive interface had formed a large expanse in my brain. The extra-terrestrial inspiration was certainly present in the design. I opened the closest drawer and saw the mind boggling amount of different coloured digital pens to be used on the expensive tablet, right beside the main course in my metaphorical cuisine. The giant holographic screen in the centre was connected, by an invisible wire, to an equally holographic and hand-fitting keyboard, projected into the open space above the desk, calling out my name, almost ordering me to place my fingertips on the graceful object. There was no mouse, but the interface had an advanced eye tracker. An equally advanced brain reader was in place to know exactly where I wanted to go, even if I wasn't looking directly at it, also serving the purpose of the click on the traditional, or rather old, mouse.

I sat down, a sensor pointed at my entire body, analysed it for distinct features, and ended its scrutiny. I finally grasped the glorious situation and turned to turn the machine on. However, before I could reach out, it switched itself on automatically. I almost jumped at this rude awakening. Recovering from this startle, I watched as it automatically logged into my account while displaying my name in the centre, "Daniel Royorys (Boss)," was close to wincing once I had read the word, "(Boss)," and remembering my promotion, and ascension.

I heard a small commotion from the workspace, which I had deemed too loud to not disturb the entire floor, which was the top one of the towering building. I then briefly recalled gradually being promoted from one floor to the one above. I calmly rushed to the office door, and out to the block. "Silence!" I voiced my thoughts with as much intimidating intent as I could. All who could hear my voice immediately zipped their mouths shut, afraid of what I could do, or rather, what I would. "If I hear even 50 decibels from this floor, the perpetrators will have their work doubled," I turned and swiftly made my way back to the comfort of my office. It felt that the building was silently trembling as it witnessed me taking my leave to my office. I felt a sense of respect from all. I then began to work... Ever so boring work...

I was simply observing the company's financial situation, which was, in fact, extremely good. The profit was skyrocketing recently and it was as if my jaw had been held wide open by some invisible force as soon as I saw the profit I would be making even after I had paid all of the people in the company.

Roughly half an hour before most workers would leave the building, I turned on the microphone and camera on my desk and began the announcement. "I'm in a good mood and the company's profit has been going up lately so all employees will have their salary increased by 5-10%," was all I had to say. The truth was, that I wanted to increase the workers' morale so I could get more work out of them. I would quietly lower it by an even smaller amount over the next few weeks.

I left about half an hour after the average Joe of this company had. Once that had happened, I realised how strict I had been that day. Besides, once I had increased everyone's salary was by, for some, a marginal amount, or, for others, a life changing one.

The usual, or in another sense, unusual, meeting at the end of the day did not happen. I was tired anyway, so I didn't mind it. Therefore, I tried to keep my head upright as I walked to my flying taxi, got in, and made my way home.

Once I had reached my destination, I immediately got in, changed my clothes, missed my usual... Anything, and went to bed...
