...but I do remember waking up. I remember brushing my teeth and changing, yet going to work was the memory that eluded me. I was just suddenly near the building. I looked up admiring it before I entered.
It was a great, big sight to behold. Even after working here for so long, I was yet to get used to it myself. I fixed up my hair a tad bit and walked in, looking as cool as I could. I waved at the receptionist at the front desk and walked in. The lift elevated me to the top floor. I greeted my early employees, took a cup of my incredible coffee and green tea mix, and walked into my office, still trying to look like I was all that.
There I was sitting in my chair, thinking about the company and how to get more popular and get more people using our products and services. "Advertising, we need more advertising!" I thought to myself. I was surprised that we didn't have too much advertising for the second biggest company in the world. I began thinking, and 10 minutes later, I called in the assistant.
"Yes sir, you called for me," she stated.
"How many ads do we currently have broadcasting," I asked.
"4 sir, in all languages," she replied.
"How many ads are in the works now," I questioned once again.
"2 ads are presently in development now sir," she answered.
"Do we have any plans to make new ads," I let out my final question.
"No sir, there are no plans to make new ads," she responded.
"Bring me our advertising minister please," I commanded her. Without retort, she went to the floor 2 below. The professional looking woman walked past all the employees like they were pineapples. She entered the main office on the floor and spoke to the serious looking man inside, but to her, he was just another, more serious looking pineapple. "The CEO is calling for your presence," she said, if she had any emotion, it was never shown.
The man, or rather, pineapple, got up from his seat, and began to walk with the woman, walking past all the other pineapples. One pineapple filling out spreadsheets, another pineapple using AI to do their spreadsheets for them. Another pineapple walking back from the bathroom. All stupid fruit continuing on with their mundane lives. Anyway, enough about pineapples, I'm getting hungry.
The man walked into my slick office, the office of a stoic. "What am I gonna do now! What did I do? Am I getting fired? Or am I getting promoted?" he thought while making direct eye contact. His face showed as little emotion as mine. I was good because in my old world, I would play poker with my friends. Not gambling, just playing for fun. If you won, you won. If you lost, you lost.
"Good morning, my friend," I started the conversation with a casual greeting.
"Hello sir," the man spoke. "What is he gonna do, he looks scary," he thought without moving his mouth.
