Calanthe.

Who the fuck was she?

The name repeats itself through my mind like a cycle, over and over, and over again. Harper whimpers in my arms as we run through the forest, her arm still slightly sore.

We called in a doctor to move her shoulder back in place. Goddess I never want to hear her scream like that ever again.

The guards stationed at the door shove it open as I barrel pass. Goddess knows I don't have time for formalities while my mate is in fucking pain. When I get to our room, I lay her down gently on the bed. I move to go to the bathroom to fill up the bathtub for her, she stands up to follow me. I sweep her off her feet and place her back down on the bed.

"You stay, let me take care of you," I said. Her lip trembles and a tear follows the path of other tear stains.

"B-but you've already t-taken care of m-me so much. You were taking c-care of me in the f-forest and look where that g-got you!" She cried. She throws her body into my and wraps herself around me like a koala.

My arms instinctively wrap around her in a protective grip.

"Darling, everyday, no matter what, there is nothing I'd rather be doing than taking care of you. Goddess just to be near you is enough. If I could spend forever with you, I would." She sniffles.

"I-I'm sorry you got hurt c-cause of me."

"I didn't get hurt because of you, Harper. I got hurt because I was stupid."

"Who was she? S-she said she knew y-you. But a long t-time ago?" Harper nuzzled her nose into my neck, making me stiffen. Goddesss, she was so fucking innocent and she had no idea what she was doing to me. And what she was turning me into.

Two months ago I could say I would never ever feel like this about someone. Fuck that, I didn't care about anyone, (not including my sister or my mother). And now, I was getting hard by just the slightest of touches.

I shook my head. I never knew a Calanthe, never in my nineteen years of life. But somehow, she knew me, and obviously didn't like me. And she fucking hurt my mate to get back at me. I was going to kill her, and kill her slowly. She said I'd been ruling for thousands of years. But I haven't. I only started ruling the minute I turned seventeen. She said I put her through hell, but how could I have if I didn't even know the woman?

I would draw out her pain, make it seem never ending---

"A-are you okay?" Harper's voice cut threw my sick and twisted thoughts.

"I'm okay, darling," I said. She gave me a cute unconvinced look. "I promise. I pinky promise."

Harper let out a sweet giggle and shifted in my lap. I cursed and squeezed my hands tighter around her waste.

"Am I h-hurting you?" Harper asked again, her faced marred with worry. I groaned breathily.

"Harper, we already went over this," I chuckled. "The last thing you'll ever do to me it hurt me."

'She'll do a lot more a some point,' said Hades. I could feel his wink and cocky smirk that he sent me.

I blocked him again.

"Can I take a nap?" Asked Harper.

"Of course darling."

After a very cold shower, I decided to start hunting for answers.

Harper was dead asleep, curled up in my bed next to one of my giant guards dogs that I got just for her.

The man I was after was smart. Weirdly smart. But maybe that came with his age. He was a human, cursed to live forever. Most humans would think that living forever would be awesome, but not him. Lennox Cruise. Every one hundred years, he would fall in love with a woman, and every fifty years she'd die. And the cycle would repeat itself. He was cursed to be heartbroken forever and he couldn't do anything to stop it.

Anyway, if this Calanthe woman said she knew me years ago, there is no doubt in my mind that this man would know who she was. And if he refused to give up information, well. That would suck for him and be fun for me.

Hades paws pounded through the quiet forest, making the least amount of noise that he could. He followed the scent of the man, tracking him down with the stealth of his predatoriness.

'Shut the fuck up, dude, I'm trying to focus,' he growled half heartedly. 'If your thought get any louder, I'm going to loose this guys scent, and then we're fucked.'

I silenced my thoughts. Or at least, I tried too. I couldn't help but wonder if Harper was okay, or if she was frightened by the dogs. But the dogs were specially trained just for her. They could tell when she was frightened and knew when to back off or protect her.

'I'm going to fucking change back, and you'll have to find the dude butt-ass naked if you don't shut up,' Hades warned.

My subconscious rolled its eyes at Hades.

'I found him.'

Hades dropped the clothes in his mouth as we switched back. I hurriedly put my clothing back on and looked at my surroundings.

We were in the densest part of the forest, thicker than any other area in the woods. Its trees loomed ominously overhead, Casey a creepy shadow over me. The weirdest part, was the rundown cabin that reeked of a human stench.

It was him, the man I needed. Goddess, he stunk! A head popped out from one of the greasy windows, staring at me with an unsteadying certainty. I cocked my head at the figure as I strode towards the cabin. Their eyes followed me every step of the way.

I shoved the moldy cabin door in and let out a slight cough as the dust billowed up from every where.

"Hullo," said a masculine voice. "Have you come to join me in my eternal damnation?" The man cackled. I turned to him, assessing him. He wore proper clothes, suited for that of someone you would not expect to own this cabin. His back stood straight as he stared at me with empty eyes. A small smile tilted on his lips.

"Ah, if it isn't Adonis Rhinelander," he cackled. I glanced around the cabin, making sure to keep a portion of my attention on him just in case he attacked.

I tilted my head at him, hopefully not giving him clue as to what I was thinking. "Boulas."

"Boulas," he said. His voice was filled with horrific glee. "It's Boulas this time?"

My gaze snapped to him. What did he mean this time? AS if sensing my confusion, the man's smile widened in malicious pleasure.

"And the reason you've come looking for me..." He began, tapping his chin in mock puzzlement. "She's escaped, hasn't she?"

A/N  Sorry for the extreme mix-up. I wasn't exactly following my plot when I wrote the chapter I had to unpublished. But thankfully, someone caught it. :D  I think this one is a lot better, and hopefully it makes more sense now.

Thank you for reading!!!
