On the border of Magnolia, the situation had devolved into a total brawl between wizards and Geto's curses. The curses outnumbered the wizards and were dominating the fight. Toward the north side of the city, Ino was putting in the grunt work, assisting in taking out droves of curses with his innate technique, so it didn't take him long to clear out a swarm of low-level curses from the street.

Ino noticed Nanami fighting a large arachnid curse to defend the weaker wizards, which made him pause and remove his mask.

Ino: "Woohoo, Nanami's here. So he'll probably see me." "This is my shot to really impress him."
???: "Will you shut up?!"
This man is Kusakabe and he appeared behind Ino and cut down a curse that lunged at Ino from behind.
Kusakabe: "Quit babbling about yourself and fight! There's a lot more coming!"
A humanoid curse grabbed Kusakabe's sword as he sliced apart its fingers and cut down the second curse as well.
Ino: "Maaaannn, what a pain."
Meanwhile, Mei Mei leapt down into an alleyway and cleaved a humanoid curse right down the middle as its corpse crashed into a carriage in the street.
She rushed out into the road as almost a dozen identical-looking curses began dropping down around her. Mei Mei started giggling as she lunged forward, cutting the first curse in half at the waist. The second curse lunged at her, but she ducked under its attack and sliced off its arms. The third curse then punched through its allies stomach, and Mei Mei cut them both down with her massive axe. A fourth curse tried to tackle her, but she leapt back, landing on top of a carriage and crushing the roof. She flipped backward again, landing on a fifth curse and crushing it as a sixth curse dove down from a roof. Mei Mei leapt up and sliced it in half. While she was airborne, the curses attempted to blitz her and pin her down, but Mei Mei launched herself higher by leaping off the nearest curse as the others grouped together below. Raising her axe high above her head, she screamed out and sliced clean through the remaining curses, landing elegantly on the ground without a single drop of blood on her clothes.
