The night sky shone as a beautiful background against the twinkling lights that surrounded the Alpha's manor, it was as if the stars themselves had fallen from the sky just to dance around and give the guest a show as they entered through the gates.

Music poured through the opened doors of the manor and shifters of all kinds were gathered around the front, some drinking some dancing under the watchful eye of the moon goddess, while others chatted with one another.

As my family made their way into the manor, I walked far back behind them as though I was merely one of their servants. My hands in tight fist at my sides as we finally made our way into the main dining hall. Tables were placed in rows on either side of the massive dining hall. Up on the dais sat two thrones and a table over to the left side of the thrones. At that table there were four chairs placed. I assumed the Alpha and his daughter would be dinning with the Lycan Kings.

The room was a light shade of gold and decorated in light pink and white. Everything from the color of the table clothes to the rose petals that fell from the open sky light. A soft breeze was constant keeping the rose petals swirling around. A smile tugged at the corner of my lips as I held my hand out in front of me and caught a petal.

Although I felt like this was the last place I was wanted, I could enjoy the little things.

"Chancey stop standing there like an idiot." Janet hissed at me.

I hadn't realized we had already made our way to the Alpha, and my family was bowing before him, and I was the only one standing like an idiot staring at the fallen rose petals. I could feel my face flush a deep red as I quickly bowed my head.

"Forgive me Alpha Leon, I was distracted with how elegant and fairy tale like your party is decorated." My words came out quickly as I tried my best not to fumble over my words.

A deep throaty laugh came in response, along with a hand on my bare shoulders.

"That's the whole purpose of the decorations Chancey, is to captivate everyone's minds and make them feel as though they have landed in another world."

A finger under my chin lifted my head and I was met with some of the most mesmerizing blue eyes. It was as if they were blue flame, and the way they took my breath away almost had me begging the Alpha to take me as a chosen mate.

I let out a soft sigh while taking a step back. "Thank you, Alpha Leon, for the invitation. I am glad that I was able to see such a beautiful sight before my next journey."

I hesitated on the word journey, knowing that where I was going was not a journey let alone somewhere I wanted to be.

"Journey? Are you leaving Chancey?" Leon let his hand fall away from my face as he looked over at my father then back at me.

As usual my father butted his way in.

"Yes, Alpha. Chancey has decided to join Ellion's training program. Since she has yet to find a mate."

Leon's brows narrowed as he took in my father's words. I must give him credit where it is due, Alpha Leon has been nothing but kind to me. Even after his wife passed a couple of years ago, my father made it my duty to take care of his daughter Beth while he tended to the Alpha. Beth was only ten at the time and he figured that since I lost my mother around the same age as Beth, I could help her work through her grief.

I did the best I could, and in those few months Beth had been attached to my hip, we had gone and done everything together, but just like every teenage girl they healed with time and make new friends and soon Beth didn't need me anymore. I suppose that was the whole purpose of me helping her, but in the meantime the Alpha was always around and we would have strolls and long chats from time to time when he wasn't busy running the pack.

Maybe just a little bit I was hoping he would choose me as his chosen mate, but eventually I stopped wishing and hoping.

"I don't want to put my burdens on you Alpha." My father's voice broke through my thoughts, and I was back in reality... confused.

"Nonsense James, Beth loves Chancey and I'm sure she has missed her all the same. It's been some time since Chancey has stayed at the manor and I need help with Beth now that she's sixteen." Leon spoke before I had the chance to say anything.

"If that is what you wish Alpha, I can have her things arranged to be brought in the morning."

I stared at my father absolutely flabbergasted. Did he just agree to send me to the manor without asking me? Leon must have seen my reaction because he quickly included.

"That is if you want to come and stay for a while Chancey. I don't want you to be here against your will."

This man could have my whole heart if I had it to spare, I gave him a soft smile and nodded. "I would be honored to stay here at the manor and care for Beth again."

Leon let out a sigh I hadn't realized he had been holding in then held out his hand to me. "Would you give me the honor to have this dance Chancey Pearl?"

I'm not sure what has gotten into the Alpha tonight. He seems to be overly friendly, but hey what the hell might as well get some kind of attention even if it's from the Alpha.

Placing my hand in Leon's I smiled. "I would be delighted."
