Dhar, Gairon's mother

~•~

Lord Gairon is no pedestrian vampire.  Minor villains can have minor origin stories.  However, comma, epic supervillains deserve epic origin stories.

Consider the following downpayment on Lord Gairon's origin story.  It's more tragic than epic.

Opinion: this chapter explains Lord Gairon's wickedness ... but doesn't excuse it!

We briefly see his introduction to horses — an important event in his life.

Scene:

Lord Gairon's last house, but not his last base camp.  Sparse.  Sterile.  Emotionally cold.  Insanely boring.  Yet spacious.  Roomy.  Laid out for solitude, being stationary, and for rapid motion.  Glass.  Actual steel.  Angular.  Beyond insanely art deco.  Rudely uninspired.

You don't live in such a mental deathtrap.  You wear it as armor.  And Lord Gairon was an ironclad, nuclear powered turtle.  And all...

   For...

   HER...

   Sake.

It was time for him to live by being prepared to die.  His beloved 'undaughter' must live.

Nothing.

Else.

Mattered.

   • For Black-mind Brandy's House to RISE, Lord Gairon's House ...must... FALL.  (His was the mythical phoenix's story in reverse.  The firestorm that destroys Lord Gairon must reanimate Black-mind Brandy's ashes instead of his.)

   Lord Gairon waited patiently

Lord Gairon waited patiently.  "They" wanted him dead.  (What else was new?)  He was weaker than he'd been in centuries.  (That was new.)  He was getting stronger, though.  His many enemies must think that their window of opportunity was imploding.
