Nithra's POV

Today is the day of the one sole thing I've been looking forward to this past week. Sunday night did not end how I would've preffered it to but I wont let that ruin my exitement over achieving my lifelong dream.

My mom often tells me the story of when I first visited the beach, It was at the age of 4. That day the vast blue sea had me mezmerized. The swish of the waves and the subtle movements in it made me very curious. I spotted a fish in the sea that had the prettiest shade of this pinkish orange on it, I looked at the creature and my young rather dumb mind thought that it was drowning. I instantly pulled it out from the sea and brought it onto the sandy beach trying out an attempt at CPR that I saw on doc mc stuffins. Gratefully my mother caught me before I smushed the poor thing to death and let the fish back to sea. She spent the rest of the day explaining that the sea was where the fish actually belonged and that it was to them was land was to us. I was so facinated by it, because how come?

Ever since then instead of watching peppa pig like other kids I would sit and watch ocean documentaries and write down all the little facts I gathered about the fasinating creatures living underwater. That later emerged into an interest in marine biology by the time I got into highschool.

By saying I love the sea I do not mean that it is all I talk about , but rather if you do happen to bring it up in a conversation.. Its not my fault If you leave knowing everything there is to know about whale families.

I attempted to dress proffesional , A white button up shirt tucked into dark brown dress pants. I put my hair back with a  band and gave myself a final touch of lipgloss before heading out for the bus. If there happens to be any reason for me to get fired on my first day it for sure will not be my because of my attire nor will it be not arriving on time.

The office was everything I was expecting it to be. Shades of blue and white filled my view, The place was furnished with such minimalism but that did not stop them from adding touches of personality here and there. Some walls had these adorable doodles of sea creatures and there was a huge and I mean HUGE fish tank near the reception, I took a closer look at it when I felt a presence of someone beside me.

"You're looking at Billy, he's a funny one. Always on the verge of killing himself one dumb way or another" The man besides me says while pointing at one blue and grey zebra fish. He seemed to be in about his mid 40s and looks awefully similar to Mr Medina from gilmore girls. I felt pretty overdressed besides him. He had on a simple t shirt with some writing of a language I couldnt make out and dark washed jeans.

He pulls out his hand to me "Im Rustin Wieber, The head of the ocenography department. Youre my new trainee arent you? The one who wrote the turtle research paper. I must say it was quite impressive."

I straightened up and quickly returned my hand "Im Nithra Ravi, And yes . It's my first day here- I am extremely sorry I didnt recognize you." Dont tell me I messed up already..

"Ofcourse, No problem. It happens, Cant expect you to know everyones social security number here on your first day could I now? " He gives me a warm smile and proceeds to ask me questions about myself and I think I did super good cause he even offered to show me around the place.

My ears were filled with the sound of light jazz music as the elevator continued rising up. Mr.Medina was in the middle of  some phone call as I occupied myself by watching the video on the small screen above the elevators doors.

I wasnt all that interested in cinemetography or anything but this video really did deserve an applause, It truly displayed the essence of the field and would provoke anyone to suddenly develop even the slightest interest in marine biology. It was taking us so long to reach our floor that I almost started contemplating career choices, perharps I would've made a good cinemetographer. I'd make films about mermaids and all that stuff. Maybe one of my movies would be named "Tales of the tides". Isnt that cute? Maybe I should consider it as a sidegig.
