Aegon's Pov,
Months Later,
Seeing the Red Keep in the distance I keep my head high as I stand on the sole ship, the rest I sent to Dragonstone......... Dragonstone never had a large garrison but for now they are 'fishing ships'.
"Is this where you're from?" Dany inquires, and I confirm with a nod. "Yes, this is my birthplace," I tell her as we gaze upon the city ahead. "Does it make you nervous?"
"I feel a mix of emotions right now. Being at sea for months means we've been out of touch with any news from here. In the worst-case scenario, we might have to fight our way out," I say half-jokingly, turning to face her, though there's a hint of truth in my jest. "Your sister and your father will be happy to see you."
"Perhaps, but people change, Dany. Nearly two decades have passed since I last touched Westeros soil. I am no longer the boy who left that night, just as my sister and father are no longer the people I once knew."
"Either way I'm happy to get off of this ship." She states and she's not the only one, I thought months at sea would make my stomach get used to it. I think the first fortnight all I did was puke my guts out. "You're not the only one, but I need you to keep your head down in the city..... okay?"
"Why?"
"Because there are some who will be less than pleased with my return, if they get their hands on us before we can make our way into the Red Keep all can be ruined." I explain and she gives me a nod of her head. "I will keep my head down, I promise."
.....................
With the hood draped over my head, I stand in the Throne Room for the first time in nearly twenty years, and it all appears altered. The throne itself remains unchanged, but the Targaryen heraldry that once adorned the walls has been replaced with an array of statues and symbols representing the Faith of the Seven.
Rumors have been swirling through the streets that today's discussions will center on the heir of Driftmark, and with that the legitimacy of Rhaenyra's son, Lucerys, is under question.
And my eyes couldn't stop from moving towards Alicent who stands below the throne with her children while the cunt of a father is ready to take a seat on the Throne I hope will shove a blade up his arse, father is sick and he of course leads.
"Though it is the great hope of this court that Lord Corlys Velaryon survive his wounds, we gather here with the grim task of dealing with the succession of Driftmark. As Hand, I speak with the King's voice on this and all other matters. The Crown will now hear the petitions. Ser Vaemond of House Velaryon." He speaks before taking a seat on the Iron Throne while Vaemond walks forward.
"My queen. My lord Hand. The history of our noble houses extends beyond the Seven Kingdoms to the days of Old Valyria. For as long as House Targaryen has ruled the skies, House Velaryon has ruled the seas. When the Doom fell on Valyria, our houses became the last of their kind. Our forebearers came to this new land, knowing that were they to fail, it would mean the end to their bloodlines and their name. I have spent my entire life on Driftmark defending my brother's seat. I am Lord Corlys's closest kin, his own blood. The true, unimpeachable blood of House Velaryon runs through my veins." The man speaks and I soon the voice of Rhaenyra follows making my eyes move towards her, she's older more mature.... but she's still beautiful.
