Y/N POV:
The next week at school was buzzing with excitement. Posters for the upcoming Spring Dance were plastered across every wall, and the halls were filled with talk of dresses, dates, and decorations. Hazel and I were sitting together in our usual spot during lunch, chatting about the dance as we picked at our food.
"Have you decided on a dress yet?" Hazel asked, her eyes bright with excitement. She was practically bouncing in her seat, clearly thrilled by the prospect of the dance.
"Not yet," I admitted, poking at my salad. "I'm still trying to figure out if I'm even going."
Hazel gave me a curious look, leaning in closer. "Why wouldn't you go? You've got to! It's going to be so much fun."
I sighed, twirling my fork absently. "I don't know... I just feel like it might be awkward. Everyone's talking about who they're going with, and I—" I hesitated, glancing down at my plate. "I don't have a date."
Hazel tilted her head, giving me a sympathetic smile. "Well, why don't you ask someone? I'm sure there's a guy out there who'd love to go with you."
I shrugged, trying to brush off the conversation. "Maybe... I just haven't really thought about it."
But that wasn't entirely true. In the back of my mind, there was one person I kept thinking about—Peri. Ever since our dance-off in the studio, he'd been on my mind more than I cared to admit. There was something about him that made me feel different, something that went beyond just friendship. But could I really ask him to a school dance? And what would Hazel think if she knew?
Still I told her about Peri, I had to do it, she would find out sooner or later, I told her that he is not going to this school, but he is an old friend of mine who I recently started to talk to again after a long time no see. Suprisingly she didn't question my story, weird but good for me.
Hazel's eyes suddenly lit up with an idea. "Hey, what about Peri?"
I froze, my heart skipping a beat. "What about him?"
Hazel grinned, nudging me playfully. "You've been spending a lot of time with him lately. Maybe he'd want to go with you?"
My face flushed at the suggestion, and I quickly looked away. "I don't know... I mean, we're just friends. And besides, I'm not even sure if he'd be into that sort of thing."
Hazel raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Just friends, huh? You seem awfully nervous for just friends."
I opened my mouth to protest, but before I could say anything, the bell rang. Hazel gave me a knowing smile as she grabbed her bag. "Think about it, Y/N. It might be fun."
As she walked away, I couldn't help but replay the conversation in my mind. Could I really ask Peri to the dance? And more importantly, did I want to? The thought of it made my heart race, but it also filled me with uncertainty. What if he said no? Or worse, what if he said yes and things got... weird?
I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts as I headed to my next class. I'd have to figure this out later.
Peri's POV:
That afternoon, I decided to visit Y/N at the dance studio again. It had become a sort of routine for us—me popping in to watch her practice, offering tips, or just chatting about life. But lately, I'd noticed something different about her. There was a spark in her eyes, a lightness in her step that hadn't been there before, and it made me feel... something.
As I approached the studio, I couldn't help but think about our dance-off the other day. It had been fun, sure, but there was more to it than that. The way we moved together, the way she smiled at me—it was like we were perfectly in sync, like there was some unspoken connection between us. I wasn't sure what it meant, but I knew one thing: I wanted to see more of that smile.
