Chapter 14

Fourth nods and tries to sleep but keeps turning since he doesn't get the cuddles he's used to.
Moments later, he holds the pillow that was between them and hugs it but turns out the pillow wasn't there he was actually hugging Mudmee really tight.

In the morning, Gemini wakes up and prepares Fourth breakfast.
He carries the breakfast tray carefully, his hands trembling slightly as he approaches the bedroom.

The aroma of warm food fills the hallway and he forces a small smile trying to push down the knot of anxiety in his chest.

As he enters, the tray nearly slips from his grasp. Fourth is curled up against Mudmee, his arms wrapped around her as if she's the only thing keeping him safe. The sight hit Gemini like a punch to the gut and his heart clenches painfully.

For a moment he just stands there frozen, he feels the sting of tears but he quickly blinks them away not wanting to break infront of them.

Mudmee wakes up to see Gemini standing in the doorway. She gently shifts out of Fourth's embrace and sits up, giving Gemini a soft apologetic look.

Fourth half-asleep mumbles "please....don't go " his arms still reaching out for the warmth that is no longer there.

Gemini watches as his husband's face softens in his sleep and for a split second, he wonders if Fourth realizes it isn't him lying beside him.

Mudmee offers to help Gemini but he shakes his head " I'll take care of my husband " he said in a steady voice.

Mudmee hesitates but nods, leaving the room with one last glance at Fourth.
When the door closes behind her, the silence is deafening.

Gemini sits on the edge of the bed, watching Fourth, he brushes a hand through Fourth's hair his touch so light it barely disturbs him.

"I'm glad you're free from cancer " he whispers, his voice cracking with emotion "Even if I'm not the one you need right now "

Fourth stirs, his eyes fluttering open. For a moment their gazes meet.

"Why are you here??" Fourth asks his voice cold, distant

Gemini swallows hard, fighting back the tears that threatens to spill over
"I made breakfast for you" he says, his voice above a whisper "i just wanted to make sure you're okay "

"Why did you leave me last night? You left me to sleep in the other room was it fun huhh" Fourth gave Gemini his back.

"I'm sorry Fourth I couldn't sleep with Mudmee around " Gemini said in a shaky voice.

"What has she done? Remember she gave me her kidney Gem...atleast try to accommodate her. If that's not possible because it's your house then let me know and I'll move out with her " Fourth answered coldly.

"I'm sorry...Fourth " this time tears welled down his face as he hurries out of the room and locks himself in the guestroom.

Fourth raised his eyebrow then checked out the food Gemini brought to him and he ate till he was full.

"So you're okay with Perth now? Do you love him that much Gem??" Fourth mumbled as Mudmee gets to the room.

"Fourth are you okay? Did Gemini do something to you??" Mudmee asked touching Fourth's body.

"I'm fine. Actually if you didn't tell me about Gem allowing someone called Perth into my hospital room i could have been in the dark "

"Well it's good that you know who he really is " Mudmee smiled at him.

Fourth what happened to you?
You don't care about my feelings anymore right?
It's about time I stop caring too
Let's see how you handle a different Gemini..... he smirks and wipes his tears then head out leaving Fourth and Mudmee there.
