Five days later Hyunjin is still in the hospital but he's getting so close to being released. The police have come by multiple times to ask questions. Haerin has visited him everyday, Felix and Chan visited him too just not as often.
Haerin was in the hospital room with Hyunjin when the doctor came in with a smile. "You're getting released today!" The doctor started. "Just make sure to keep taking your meds and get plenty of rest!" She finished and walked out to finish the discharge paperwork. Haerin looked at Hyunjin with a smile "I'll gather your stuff!" Haerin stated before doing what she said she would.
A few hours later they made it home and Haerin helped Hyunjin to the couch. "Are you hungry?" She asked her boyfriend and he gave her a soft nod and she went to the kitchen to cook for the both of them. Suddenly there was a knock at the door, the couple were shocked and unsure if they should answer it so Haerin looked through the peephole to check. It was just a police officer, so Haerin let him in.
"So the last time we questioned you, you said you had a recording leading up to when Minji shot you correct?" The officer asked and Hyunjin nodded. "Yes sir, it's on my phone." Hyunjin answered. Hyunjin started to stand up but Haerin stopped him with a small smile. "I'll get it for you baby." Haerin said softly and walked to Hyunjins bag and grabbed his phone and handed it to him.
Haerin sat down next to her boyfriend, before he played the recording he looked at her. "Are you sure you want to hear this?" He asked with genuine concern. She looked back at him with a soft smile. "Yes, I'm sure." She replied softly and took his hand in hers. With that, he played the recording.
The recording was normal at first but as it kept you could hear Minji cock the gun and then say "If I can't have you Hyunjin, then no one can!" Then a loud bang. After that you can hear Haerin running to Hyunjin and Felix following shortly after.
The recording ends, Haerin has her one hand still holding Hyunjins and the other up to her mouth. "Thank you Mr. Hwang, could you email that to me and I'll put it on file with the case." The officer handed Hyunjin a card with the email address he would need to send it to.
And with that the officer left. A few weeks later the trial started, the trial went on for what felt like forever but in reality it was only a month and a half. The day came where the jury would give their verdict and the judge would give the sentence. The jury found Kim Minji guilty of attempted murder in the first degree, the judge sentenced Minji to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Of course Minji started crying and pleading with the judge to give her a lesser sentence, however it was of no use. "Kim Minji, I have been a judge for a lot of murder and attempted murder cases in my time here." The judge started. "And never in my life have I ever seen it to this extent. You stalked Mr. Hwang and Ms. Kang for months, even after she had to move out of her apartment because of your stalking and delusional behavior. And then went so far as to try to take the life of someone you claimed to love very deeply." She continued. "I have no sympathy for you, my word is final." She ended her final statement and court was adjourned.
