Flashback (6) : Entwined Like Lotus Vines (🔥)

After persistent pleading, Yeonjun finally persuaded his grandma to cancel his return tickets to Seoul. However, she laid down two conditions: he was to avoid meeting Soobin for a week and remain at home.

Soobin and Yeonjun's rooms had windows that directly faced each other, allowing them to see one another. But Yeonjun's grandma outsmarted them by locking the room and relocating him to a different one. Soobin's efforts to reunite with Yeonjun were consistently rebuffed by his grandma, who concocted various excuses to keep them separated.

As the fifth day drew to a close, their frustration reached a boiling point. Under the cover of night, after his grandma had drifted off to sleep, Yeonjun snuck into her room and snatched the keys from beneath her pillow. He crept to his old room, where Soobin was waiting anxiously by the window. As soon as Soobin caught sight of Yeonjun, his face erupted into a radiant smile.

"Let's sneak downstairs and head to the hut by the lotus pond," Soobin whispered, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

"We need to be back before 6 am," Yeonjun cautioned, his voice barely above a whisper. "Grandma will wake up by then, and we can't risk her finding out."

As Yeonjun slipped out of the house, he whispered a soft "sorry" to his grandma, who lay sleeping. He made his way to the waiting bicycle, where Soobin sat with a gentle smile. Yeonjun climbed onto the back of the bike and wrapped his arms snugly around Soobin's waist, holding on tight as they set off into the night.

As they arrived at the serene lotus pond, they settled down beside each other, basking in the gentle night breeze. Yeonjun nestled his head on Soobin's shoulder, feeling a sense of comfort and security. "I'm worried that my family won't accept us," Yeonjun confided, his voice laced with concern. "I never thought Grandma would react like this." Soobin offered a reassuring peck on Yeonjun's forehead, his touch warm and soothing. "Everything will be alright," he whispered, his words a gentle promise of hope and support.

Just as Soobin leaned in to pluck a lotus flower, Yeonjun grasped his arm, his grip tight with concern. "Hey, be careful!" he warned, his voice low and urgent. "Why are you picking the flower? You shouldn't touch the water at night, it's not safe."

Soobin chuckled and teased, "Oh, my scaredy-cat, it's okay, you get spooked so easily, hyung." With a gentle touch, he coaxed the lotus flower's petals to unfurl, and then presented it to Yeonjun with a tender smile. "This flower is as pure and beautiful as you are," he said, his eyes shining with affection.

The thin mat on the hut's floor creaked softly as they sat down together, their nervousness hanging in the air like a challenge. They looked into each other's eyes, the connection between them crackling with unspoken desire. Though they both knew what they wanted, fear of rejection or vulnerability kept them from voicing their thoughts. The silence was heavy with anticipation, a fragile balance of hope and uncertainty.

Soobin's tongue darted out, tracing the curve of Yeonjun's bottom lip, and Yeonjun's mouth opened, inviting him in. As they deepened the kiss, Soobin's tongue explored the warmth of Yeonjun's mouth. Breaking away, Soobin smiled mischievously. "We've definitely improved since our first try," he teased, trying to lighten the mood and ease the lingering tension.

Soobin's hand hesitated on Yeonjun's shirt, his fingers trembling slightly as he struggled to find the courage to take the next step. But then, Yeonjun's gentle voice cut through the uncertainty, speaking the words Soobin longed to hear: "I trust you." Those three simple words were like a key unlocking Soobin's fears, giving him the reassurance he needed to proceed.
