Meanwhile, Jake, Quil, and Billy were waiting for the pair to get back to the house. They were used to the rain, but even in the summer he didn't want Emily to catch a cold under his watch from having to walk home. Hearing about her getting sick was not something he would look forward to, but he really loved her as his own.

Quil bounded into the house after getting some stuff for the secret party they planned to throw later in the week. A lot of their friends through the years had become Emily's, but it was more of a see you in the summer thing. Either way, the parties in the summer were a major coming of age thing in La Push. It was also one of the few things for teens to do at the beach no matter the weather. A lot to parents kept watch on their kids, but knew that they snuck out to these parties. It was something everyone did and really never caused an issue. It was unspoken that if legal problems started stemming from these parties they would be shut down. Billy also made sure to secretly let it slip what days Chief Swan would not be in the La Push area just in case he saw the underage drinking. Speaking of drinking, the teens got drunk only at these parties. It was something that honestly was expected, but not approved of. The rez was small enough for kids to walk to the party so drinking and driving was not involved. It seems as teens knew their limits to not have to stop the bonfires, or at least their friends better stop them because teens are teens. Every once in a while something or someone would start trouble that was quickly shut down. If their parents were awoken by drunk teen sneaking back inside or the after effects the next morning, they would still likely be punished, but not as harsh as expected. Emily was never much for the drinking, but did like the weed Emmett secretly let her try. A glass of wine was acceptable at her age as long as she was with her family to watch after her.

As Quil came running through the house he almost knocked Jake off of the ladder. He was simultaneously patching a whole in the roof that caved from the horrid rain storm two nights ago, as he decorated. It almost flooded the living room due to the wind direction. Billy had him hanging up streamers and banners to welcome Emily. He did this for his daughters when they came for a planned visit too. Even if their mom was passed, he made it a point to try and add some flair back into their life. Birthdays, holidays, and Emily's return to the family each summer brought a party. He loved seeing her smile, as he did his own kids. Unfortunately the his daughters were already moved out. Rachel came to visit often being that she lived near the area, however Rebecca lived farther away. She did try to fly back once a year and sometimes that aligned with Emily coming in the summer. The girls have been under the same roof maybe 2-3 times so it was comical how much Emily changed each time she saw Rebecca. This year he knew it was her last official summer with the Black family unless their plans worked. He was going to give it his all in hopes to keep his adopted like daughter close by.

"Has anyone heard from them?" Billy asked the two boys. "I put just enough power to the old car to get it back into town, but hopefully not enough to make it back to the house. I'm sure Emily figured it out. Embry is clueless as always." Jake answered with a roll of his eyes. Embry sure does make it a lot harder to move out of the friend zone being he is oblivious. "Yeah! You would think as much as he has to wipe his drool every time he sees, thinks, or talks about her that he would already have a ring on it." Quil snicked so hard he tripped over Billy's wheelchair and landed backwards over the sofa.

Billy just rolled his eyes and smiled. Those boys would be the death of him. They did bring great joy into his life and he always hoped that Emily would end up with one of them in La Push. Embry was a good boy growing into a man. Billy knew all about his anxiety and depression from his mother Tiffany Call. Seeing how that undertone of his life shifted when Emily was near meant that they catered to each other's personality in a healthy way. He wanted Embry to have that in person outlet and safe person to understand his everyday battles and wins instead of a couple of months a year. It was more than that. He saw how Emily put on a brave persona, but silently focused on her breathing. Embry noticed it and would walk over, catch her eye, squeeze her hand, or hold her when the teens were alone. If she started panicking he would help her calm down and wasn't shy about helping in front of others even if the guys teased him later. Often he caught Embry checking on Emily at sleepovers to make sure she was able to fall asleep, or some nights they stayed up hours talking because Emily was losing her daily battle to anxiety in the dark of the night. That's what it is- love and life is a daily battle. Billy could see the love the teens shared as best friends. He hoped 13 years would make it be obvious to the teens, but Emily wasn't one to make the first move.

"We just have to get Embry alone, smack him around, and make him ask her out finally right?" Quil was going on as Billy snapped back to the present and out of his thoughts.
"I think it will take a little more subtly than that Quil. They have a good solid friendship but are likely scared to mess it up. They need to know each other feels the same as we all can see it. We have three months, but let's make it interesting. Whoever can get them together first wins $50 from me ok? Since it will be me who wins, no problem on the cash." Billy laid out his idea with a smirk at the other boys. They quickly agreed and shook hands. Let the games begin...
