"Can I talk to you?" Leah demanded.
Rob snapped his head around and spotted her hovering over him by the fire pit. He groaned, hoping that for once he could have a normal conversation with Aaron without interruption.
"Yeah," he responded dryly, "Do you want me to come with you?"
"No, I want him to come with me."
She pointed at Aaron and rolled her eyes.
"...Yeah, I'm talking to you!"
Rob sighed as Leah led him to an upstairs balcony.
"What's up?" he started, already fearing the worst.
"Um, yeah, I just feel dumb. I just feel like it's kind of mean to sleep outside with someone else outside of our couple. That is mean, Rob, like, I don't care what you say, that's mean!"
"I will apologize. Aaron had a rough night and as his best friend I felt like I should, like, make him feel better somehow. I'm sorry..."
"I just felt so stupid, you don't get it."
"I don't want you to feel stupid. I know you, I know what we have, and I'm not just, like, ready to walk away from that at all. But, like, there's something there with him..."
Rob blushed as soon as he let that slip out.
Wait, f*ck, no. I didn't mean it in that way...
"I'm so glad you like him," Leah proceeded, "I'm so glad he's your friend, I hope you guys, like, live happily ever after. I just don't want to, like, get my feelings hurt..."
"I don't want to hurt your feelings, but the fact is, like, I've now got into a position where that's gonna happen. There's only one me, so someone's feelings are getting hurt."
"Literally, what do you want me to say to that? 'There's only one me,' and you're over in Soul Ties f*cking your guy friend! I chose you, Rob! I'm coupled up with you!"
"I didn't f*ck Aaron, okay? I'm just saying is that I was just helping my friend, and I'm honored that you chose me. I want to spend every moment on the island with you..."
"You're a f*cking liar!"
"I feel like every time we talk, you don't trust me!"
"I never said that!"
Rob rolled onto a nearby lounge chair and threw the drying beach towel that was on it over his head. He let out a muffled scream and angrily sat back up.
"What?" Leah questioned, glaring at him still.
"I'm really upset."
"Why?"
Instead of opening up, he huffed and stormed away. There was no point.
She's so clingy. I can have more than one friend!
After a good five-minute cry, he turned around to head back downstairs and rejoin the rest of the group but couldn't make it past Leah without her piercing gaze.
"Don't look at me, please," he whined between tears.
"Come here," she invited him over back to her with open arms.
"No, I can't right now."
"Can I just say one thing?"
"Yes," Rob, giving up, sat back down by her, "Yes, please. I'm good."
"My intention was never to, like, hurt your feelings, and I wasn't trying to make you feel bad or tell you what to do."
"Won't you just ask me how I'm f*cking feeling?"
