Souls Tied: A Love Island Tale (Aaron x Rob)

Dear reader,

If you made it this far, I'm going to have to get a hold of your therapist and formally apologize to them because WHAT WAS THAT?! Just kidding, what I meant to say was thank you so much for reading and sticking with me through this silly project.

In case you didn't know already, I primarily make comedic tiktoks and youtube shorts (link in bio), but something you probably don't know about me is that I love writing and have been doing it since first grade. Over time, I sort of lost that hobby as I got busier, but I continued to fill my notes app and excel spreadsheets with character maps and world building (my favorite parts of writing). I don't know if you could tell, but I've never written a fanfic until now.

I enjoy watching Love Island USA with my family. We like to make fun of the people on the show and point out and quote cliche phrases (at the end of the day, eggs in one basket, etc.), and like everyone else who watches this show, we adored this past season. Obviously, we were choosing our favorite islanders and favorite couples as it all unfolded and my opinions kept changing throughout, but something that I kept thinking about was that Rob and Aaron might as well get together due to their strong bromance (or maybe the closet is made of glass, but I don't want to jump to conclusions and get "cancelled" lol).

I made a wattpad account in 2019 mainly as a joke, but I never actually read anything on there and the few projects I started writing were nothing more than satirical and just plain stupid. Once I found out that Rob x Aaron was a common "ship," I jumped on here and ao3 and wondered if anyone wrote any silly fanfics, but nothing that I was looking for popped up right away. That was when I came up with the brilliant idea to step forward and make my own!

One of my flaws when it comes to writing is that I'm very critical of myself while I work on the piece, but I decided that I was going to push that criticism aside for this one. I chose to write it on wattpad because it clearly has a notorious reputation for "bad writing" compared to other fanfic sites (no offense wattpad writers). It wouldn't be taken as seriously on here, which turned out to be the goal. I don't want you to take this too seriously, this is all just for fun!

To my readers who discovered me through here: Thank you for your patience. This took me a month to complete as I was preparing to go back to school, and I definitely rushed the ending, but because of you guys. This has done better than my other works combined on this website! Your comments of "please write more" kept me going, and it's because of you that I hope to dive back into writing in my free time!

To my followers from other platforms who hopped on here: Thank you for being willing to laugh with me as I wrote this. You have discovered something new about me and I can't stress this enough, but I will be forever thankful for you guys for getting me where I am today with my creativity and stupid antics!

To my family or anyone else I know in real life: I'm sorry for all that profanity and I'm REALLY sorry about chapter 11...

To Rob and Aaron and anyone else in the Love Island cast: I'm sorry if I offended any of you or made you guys uncomfortable, but at the end of the day (wink wink), this was just for fun and shouldn't be taken seriously. I loved watching you guys on the show and I wish you all the best in your love lives, no matter who you choose to love!
