Sunset embers enveloped the sky in a scarlet symphony. Deku stood with his colleagues Shigaraki and Kurogiri.

"He thinks he can get away with stabbing me?? Kurogiri bring out the Nomus."

He cackled, raising his hands in the air. He resembled a child throwing a tantrum and destroying their Lego city in protest.

"Deku, go kill him" he spat.

"I thought you wanted him to join us."

"That was before the bastard attacked me. How dare he. That filth, that scum. Make him suffer."

"Well... okayy then, if I must." Deku's face curled up into a grotesque grin.

'I mean, Shigaraki did have it coming after he invited him over again. I had it covered.'

Then, like that, he was gone. Using a grappling hook, he swung from rooftop to rooftop. He gazed into the alleyways to see if he could spot his prey. Adrenaline was pumping through his veins; the hunt was always his favorite.

'Bingo.'

Beneath him, he saw a hero slumped on the ground, another paralyzed, kneeling on the concrete. The Hero Killer was in the middle of some random spiel on heroics: it sounded more like Stain attempting to justify his urge to kill people.

"How annoying," Deku mumbled, trying to decide whether or not he should kill all three of them or just wait for Stain to kill the two heroes and then jump in.

Soon, he recognized one of those heroes: his former classmate, Tenya Iida.

'What on Earth do we have here? I did kill his brother, but I wasn't expecting him to come looking for revenge, how hero like!'

Deku did not want to let Stain have his kill; he wanted to be the one to end every single one of those UA kids. Whatever Stain had in store was not enough for them. They deserved worse. He decided to interfere.

"What's up, Iida? Long time no see! Seems you've found yourself in a sticky situation," he laughed.

Iida's expression twisted in disgust as Deku landed in front of him. He detested Midoriya. Someone, in his eyes, who turned to villainy the moment something did not go his way.

"What're you doing here?" Stain questioned, clearly irritated that he'd be interrupted for the millionth time that night.

"I'm obviously here to stop you."

"Yesterday, you were clinging to me like a bug. Now, you want to stop me?"

"Things have changed."

"What can a quirkless kid like you even do?"

"Quite a bit." Deku scoffed at Stain lunging forward. He slid knives out of his suit pockets and into his jagged hands.

Stain dodged quickly, receiving a minuscule scratch on his face from the blade. He instantly recovered and charged toward Deku, gripping his swords tightly.

They were fighting back and forth as Iida and Native looked terrified at the scene unfolding. However, Iida could move his body again. If he didn't see what was happening in front of him, he'd probably attempt to attack Stain again, but it was clear they were fighting with the intent to kill one another.

Iida quietly put Native on his back, limping while he lugged him out of that alleyway. They did not want to be a part of whatever carnage was about to ensue.

As if on cue, a billowing voice erupted from the street.

"Stop right there, Hero Killer!"

"Oh, look at that! If it isn't the Pro Hero Endeavor here to join the action!" a crooked smile fixed itself onto Deku's face.

Despite not looking the part, he was getting tired. Although he wasn't heavily injured by Stain, avoiding his blades was no laughing matter.

Regardless, he knew he had to end this soon. As soon as he ran at Endeavor, he was hit with red-hot flames. Deku jumped above, green electricity encasing his body- allowing him to go much higher than any regular citizen.

He was astonished: he didn't mean to use it, his quirk that it is. He hadn't in so long it was too unstable, always leaving him wounded; the quirk likely activated itself to help him not transform into a roasted chicken tender.

Unfortunately, in this moment of distraction, Endeavor struck again, shooting more flames at Deku. This time, he did not evade them and got hit head-first by the blaze.

Endeavor wasn't anticipating this. Typically, people escape and continue to fight back. But Deku just stood there getting hit head-on. Only high-ranking heroes or villains should be able to withstand that.

His eyes were wide, glazed over with fear; he saw him. Deku, lying on the cold, hard ground. Bloody, covered in burns. His job was to apprehend villains, not put them on the brink of death.

...

Midoriya lay handcuffed to a metal slab. Monitors beeping beside him in this nearly empty room save for a giant mirror, that so-called bed, and some monitors and IVs.

He shortly awoke, his head throbbing.

"You're awake."

Noted a short lady glancing up at him and immediately exiting the room.

Panic. His senses had returned. Midoriya had no idea where he was nor how he got there. Fear gripped his chest as he saw the hospital equipment surrounding him.

A tall man entered the room. He looked somewhat plain yet had a powerful presence. Another man stood next to him, bearing the head of a dog.

"Hello there, I'm Naomasa Tsukauchi, a detective. I'm here to ask you some questions, Deku."

'Deku? Who's Deku? Doesn't that mean useless? Did this detective call me useless? Wait- detective? Why is there a detective?"

'For me.'

"O-okay."

"What were you doing with the Hero Killer Stain yesterday?"

Midoriya didn't like this question. Truthfully, he didn't like the man in front of him. He could feel Tsukauchi's hatred for him radiating off his body.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"The Hero Killer, what is your relationship to him?"

"I heard you, I just, I don't know who the Hero Killer is."

Tsukauchi paused: he knew he was telling the truth, but how? Deku was with the Hero Killer; they were apprehended together.

"Let me pose a different question. What do you remember of yesterday?"

Midoriya stopped. What does he remember?

"Who am I?"

Midoriya begins to freak out, shaking fervently and gasping for air as he hyperventilates.

"Do you remember anything?"

Tsukauchi is speechless as this villain has a panic attack right before his eyes. Someone who had killed countless people was lying there so vulnerable.

"No." He whimpered.
