The next morning, Jimin got ready for work despite Lee's insistence that he take a week off to recover. "I need to get back to the office, Lee. It'll help me take my mind off things," Jimin said firmly.

As Jimin arrived at the office just before Jungkook, he steeled himself for the day ahead. Jungkook noticed him immediately but kept his composure. He couldn't afford to show any favoritism, especially when other employees might start questioning his behavior.

When Jimin approached Jungkook's desk, Jungkook's expression remained stern. "Why are you here today, Jimin? I told you to take a week off."

Jimin opened his mouth to respond, but Jungkook cut him off. "Okay, how are you feeling?"

Again, Jimin tried to answer, but Jungkook interrupted, "Alright, let's get to work."

Jimin stood there, confused and hurt by Jungkook's abruptness. He couldn't understand why Jungkook was acting so differently from the previous night. Silently, he followed Jungkook to the meeting room, his mind racing with questions.

Throughout the day, Jungkook maintained his stern demeanor, giving Jimin tasks without any of the warmth he had shown before. Jimin could feel the eyes of his colleagues on him, sensing their curiosity and perhaps even suspicion.

At one point, when they were alone in Jungkook's office, Jimin finally gathered the courage to speak up. "Mr. Jeon, did I do something wrong?"

Jungkook glanced up from his papers, his face still composed. "No, you didn’t. Just focus on your work, Jimin."

Jimin nodded, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness. He couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed between them, but he didn't know what it was.

As the day wore on, Jimin threw himself into his work, trying to ignore the uneasy feelings swirling inside him. He couldn't help but wonder if he had misinterpreted Jungkook's concern the previous night. Had it all just been a momentary lapse of professionalism on Jungkook's part? Or was there something more that neither of them could acknowledge in the confines of the office?

As the end of the workday approached, Jungkook's anxiety grew. He couldn't bear the thought of Jimin going out alone and potentially facing danger again. Summoning his resolve, he picked up the phone and dialed Jimin's extension.

Jimin's landline rang, and he answered promptly, "Yes, Mr. Jeon?"

"What are you doing?" Jungkook's voice was cold and firm.

"I'm just about to leave, sir," Jimin replied, his voice tinged with weariness.

"No, you can't, Mr. Park," Jungkook said sharply. "You are my secretary, so you need to be here in the office until I leave."

Jimin's face fell, his sadness evident. "Yes, Mr. Jeon," he replied quietly.

Jungkook watched from his office, his heart aching as he saw the dejected expression on Jimin's face. His office had a one-way mirror, allowing him to see out into the main office while remaining invisible to his employees. He couldn't help but feel torn between his professional responsibilities and his personal concern for Jimin's safety.

Jimin sat back down at his desk, trying to focus on some paperwork, but his mind was elsewhere. He wondered why Jungkook was being so strict and cold, especially after the concern he had shown the previous night. It was confusing and disheartening.

Jungkook, on the other hand, struggled with his emotions. He knew he had to maintain a professional distance, but he couldn't ignore the knot of worry tightening in his chest. He didn't want to see Jimin hurt again, and the only way he knew to protect him was to keep him close.
