Author's POV

The door of a black polished Rolls Royce was opened by a guard dressed in uniform. From the car stepped out the CEO, Zaviyar. He stood tall and dominating, his black turtleneck perfectly hugging his figure, his bracelet and chain in sync with his movements, he looked classy. It had been a week since he took over the post of CEO and had already become one of the most significant business figures.

He entered the building, everyone stiffening in their positions as they greeted him, getting his usual, cold nods as response. The marble floor, polished furniture, decor and the professional environment made the office look simply luxurious.

His heels in sync with his PA's, he went into his office, which read, 'CEO: Zaviyar Khan'. He went inside, pulled off his black blazer and hung it, opening his laptop. His PA informed him about upcoming project meetings, one of which included the proposal they sent to Mir Corporations to work with them in the NH-13. Zaviyar had never met the CEO but had heard she was also rude and arrogant as he was. Why did he have a good feeling about meeting her?

You like her already  His subconscious said

No I don't  He replied

Oh yes, you do!

No, I don't. Shut up! He shut his thoughts and got back to working on his laptop

12 PM, Khan Industries

The door of a sleek black Audi was opened by none other than Zoya Mir. She stepped out, reflecting darkness, with a hint of grace and cleverness. Her beige pants with a black silk shirt tailored to fit her perfectly, her gold earrings shining under the sun, her hazel eyes showing the professionalism she had within, she looked ready to challenge and attack.

"Sir, the CEO of Mir Corporations is here," Amjad, Zaviyar's PA informed him.

"I'm coming," Zaviyar responded in his usual arrogant tone.

Zaviyar stepped inside the boardroom, his eyes falling upon the most beautiful hazel eyes—eyes he had seen before somewhere. He froze right there, but quickly masked the confusion that was creeping upon his face.

She stood up, her heels clicking against his marble office floor, and spoke in her usual cold tone, but her voice sweet as usual

"Hi, Zoya Mir, CEO of Mir Corporations,"

THAT VOICE! Zaviyar was sure he'd heard it somewhere.

"Zaviyar Khan, CEO of Khan Industries,"

Zoya, on the other hand, didn't recognise his voice and was eager to start the meeting. The meeting resulted in both companies becoming allies, not working for the NH-13, but generally staying with no grudges against each other.

Throughout the meeting, Zaviyar continued to steal glances of Zoya, something that didn't go unnoticed by her. She was curious as to why he was looking at her. Scratch that, staring at her, because from what she had heard, Zaviyar was one rude and arrogant guy who liked to keep professional and personal lives far away.

Later that evening

"Oye! Kin khayalon mein gum hai?," Shayan's voice made Zaviyar snap out of his trance

(Hello! Which thoughts are you lost in?)

"Kuch nahi. Work stuff," Zaviyar replied, trying to mask his thoughts, though he knew his best friends would figure it out

(Nothing. Work stuff)

"We heard you met Zoya Mir today...kahin pyar tou nahi ho gaya, hmm?," Fawad teased him with a smirk

(We heard you met Zoya Mir today...is it that you've fallen in love, hmm?)

"What the–mein aur pyar? Iss janam mein tou nahi ho sakta pyar. I was just curious, because I'm sure I've seen her eyes and heard her voice before, not sure where though," Zaviyar confessed honestly

(What the-me falling in love? I don't think that's possible in this life. I was just curious, because I'm sure I've seen her eyes and heard her voice before, not sure where though)

"You've seen her eyes and heard her voice before? That means qudrat ishara de rahi hai," Shayan teased him

(You've seen her eyes and heard her voice before? That means the universe is giving you hints)

"They're definitely captivating, and the way she works is amazing yaar. Within 30 minutes she was able to convince me to become allies and not business partners. I've heard she also has a dark past, but she heavily guards it. Could it be possible that she is the one?," Zaviyar wondered

Both of them were silent, amused by the sudden 'emotion' of Zaviyar, something they had never seen in their 12 years of friendship.

"No," Zaviyar snapped suddenly, his jaw tightening with his usual ruthlessness. "She is the same, no relationship is permanent. And love? It doesn't exist, especially in today's world," He sighed

No one is sincere. There comes a time when every relationship becomes temporary and breaks eventually His fear started talking to him

After their usual banter, Zaviyar's friends left his mansion and he was left alone as his father wasn't in the country.

He had dinner, checked his emails in his study and went to bed. But tonight, all that he could think about was the hazel eyes and the darkness they held, just like his deep brown ones did.

He tried to sleep when a memory hit him...
