The drive home was silent. The tension in the air so thick you could slice it into bits. Conrad's obvious broodiness was radiating off as bright as a diamond.
"Yo, Con, that was so mean. You basically threw us under the bus!" Steven grumbled, gesturing using his one of his arms, the other running through his hair.
Conrad shrugged plainly as if he had nothing to do with it.
"What happened to being a 'bro's bro'!" Jeremiah sighed, crossing his arms around his chest, and looking away.
I kept my mouth shut. I wasn't trying to 'always be apart of the boys'. Or be some kind of 'not like the other girls' kind of person. If it was anyone who was, it would be Belly.
"Yo, Y/N, you good?" Steven asked, turning around slightly, giving me a concerned gaze.
"Mhm. Fine."
Jeremiah frowned at put his hand on my thigh, rubbing it soothingly in small circles. "Hey, it's not your fault," he mumbled.
I took another look at Conrad. He didn't seem the least bothered. Just that stupid brooding look on his stupid brooding face.
"That was a really dick move of you Conrad."
Everyone's eyes were on me.

We all got out of the car and into the beach house, our faces pretty blank. I guess the mood was pretty broken now. To be fair, it was already long ago.
The house was quiet, none of us daring to speak.
"I'm making a grilled cheese." I finally said, walking to the kitchen, pulling out white bread, bought by Sussanah(of course, as none of the parents, especially Laurel, would ever buy that kind) and the pack of thinly cut cheddar cheese.
"Make me one too baby?" Jeremiah pleaded, walking behind me and placing his hands on my hips.
"Haha. No way. You can do it yourself."
"Please" he begged.
Damn him.
"Fine."
I plugged in the sandwich press and put the ingredients on. It seemed like we were all ignoring Conrad. Playing petty, but fair I guess.
Jeremiah and Steven were scrolling through channels on the TV, Conrad probably in his room sulking.
"Food's done big back." I called, plating his grilled cheese on a porcelain plate. I pulled an annoyed face at him, watching as the corners of his mouth turned up.
Damn him and his perfect smile.

I guess you could say Belly's pissed at us. Actually, pissed is an understatement. She was furious. Constantly sending us looks that basically meant she wanted us to burn into ashes.
That look made me want to forget her birthday, which was in only a couple days.
Oh wait. Her birthday.
It turns out, that I did actually completely forget. I didn't have a gift at all. Nothing. Immediately, I hopped online and scrolled through my list, one I had made a while ago for my friends, of potential birthday gifts.
An art kit, no way.
A sewing machine? Nope.
Jewelry?
Yes.
I searched google for a bit, my eyes landing on a thin, pearly, shiny necklace. Not too much but cute. The price was reasonable, $40, with a special on it. Something I was willing to spend on an annoying, pissy brat who wanted nothing to do with me.
I checked the store, a well known one here in Cousins, family owned by a a couple who lived down the road.
That was sorted.
