Flashback
Little Jeongyeon and Nayeon were seated on a bench in a vast garden, surrounded by lush greenery and trees as far as the eye could see. They both radiated happiness as they sat side by side. With a loving gaze, Nayeon softly expressed, "I'm happy here with you." Jeongyeon responded with a warm smile, saying,
"Me too, I want this to last forever."
Nayeon then reached for Jeongyeon's hand, holding it affectionately, and shared a dream, "When we grow up and you can walk, we'll explore the world together."
Excitedly, Jeongyeon proposed, "What if we don't get married when we're older and just live together?" Little Nayeon's eyes sparkled with excitement as she agreed, "Yes! That would be so much fun, we can play all day."
Jeongyeon added, "Yes, and we can even sleep together," clapping her hands, and they both chuckled at the idea. Jeongyeon expressed her ambition,
"When I grow up, I'll work hard and buy a house for you." Nayeon playfully countered, "No, I'll buy a mansion or even a castle!" Little Nayeon softly held Jeongyeon's hand and whispered,
"You know you're my best, best, best friend," as they both shared a joyful smile.
End of flashback
----------
Jeongyeon sat in her room, reminiscing about the time they had spent together. The noise from downstairs indicated that the marriage ceremony was approaching, and everyone, along with the guests, were downstairs. She wasn't prepared, feeling heartbroken as she realized her love was about to marry someone else, leaving her helpless. "Nayeonahhhh!" she cried out in pain, trying to ease her heartache by tapping on her chest, but the pain was unbearable.
She abruptly stood up, grabbed her luggage bag, and started packing her clothes. "I'll never look for you again!" she shouted while hastily putting her money, a small camera, and a photo frame of Nayeon and herself into the bag. She made a rop with some bedsheets present in her room and threw it out of the window.
------
As she was about to jump out of the window without a word to anyone, she was brought back to reality when Momo called out to her."Where are you going? What's going on?" Momo asked, surprised to see Jeongyeon all dressed up.
"I can't handle this. I'm running off to Italy. Can I ask for a favor?"
Jeongyeon explained. "Why? I'm sure you'll be okay. Don't go anywhere," Momo expressed her concern. "I've made up my mind. I... I'm shattered, Momo. It's too painful to bear. I'll start anew there. Please help me,"
Jeongyeon pleaded, her eyes already red from crying. "Alright, what is it?" Momo reluctantly agreed. "Give me some money. I'll find a job there. I promise I'll pay you back," Jeongyeon sighed.
"I will, but... But this is absurd. What about our photography?" Momo questioned, Jeongyeon reached for Momo's hand and squeezed it, pleading,
"Please, Momo, help me. I... I promise once I'm settled, I'll do photography again with you guys." Momo looked into her eyes, filled with pain, and responded,
"Okay, wait, I'll get you some money." After a minute, Momo returned with the money and handed it to Jeongyeon. "Thank you... Take care of my father," Jeongyeon said as she hugged Momo. She then stood by the window, appearing ready to jump but halted. "What's wrong?" Momo asked curiously.
"Wait, I'll be right back," Jeongyeon replied before heading to Nayeon's room without knocking. There, she found Nayeon in a long white wedding dress, the soft fragrance surrounding her, causing Jeongyeon's emotions to overwhelm her, tears welling up in her eyes.
" you're all decked out, but not for me,"
Jeongyeon chuckled bitterly. Nayeon, lost in her thoughts, got a jolt when she turned to face Jeongyeon. "Jeongyeon... Where you at...?" Nayeon softly asked as she moved closer. With each step, Jeongyeon's emotions intensified. Nayeon's scent left her in a daze, and when she locked eyes with Nayeon, she couldn't resist any longer. Jeongyeon forcefully pulled Nayeon close, placing her hand on the front of Nayeon's neck, and kissed her passionately.
After mustering some courage, Nayeon pushed her away, softly questioning, "Jeongyeon, what's going on?" with her gaze downcast. Jeongyeon's pride shattered as she saw her love, who loved her back, feeling uncomfortable.
Anger flared up in Jeongyeon as she firmly grabbed Nayeon's arms, shouting, "Nayeon! You're mine; you're not going anywhere else!" Jeongyeon's hand reached for her face, gripping her cheeks firmly.
"You're mine!... Na-Nayeon!" she shouted with a broken voice, tears streaming down her face. Nayeon pushed her away again, pleading, "Jeongyeon, please!"
"Please what? Huh? You don't love me, right? You were just using me, right? Yes, I know you're a liar,"
Jeongyeon's eyes widened with anger as she uttered these words, piercing Nayeon's heart. Despite the pain, Nayeon kept her gaze lowered. Jeongyeon held Nayeon's chin, forcing her to look up.
"Answer me! You're a coward. You just wanted to have fun with me, right? Tell me how fun it was, huh? You want it again? You wanna f—" Jeongyeon abruptly stopped, her cheeks flushed red, ears ringing.
Nayeon slapped her hard, breaking the silence as the sound echoed. Jeongyeon, stunned, rubbed the spot where she was slapped, unable to process the moment.
She chuckled bitterly, tears streaming down her cheeks, glaring at Nayeon with disappointment, she was outrageous unable to process her mistake. Nayeon, equally surprised by her actions, tried to intervene, but it was too late; Jeongyeon had already left, gone from her life forever.
----------
Jeongyeon's heart was pounding, urging her to go back to Nayeon, but her pride and thoughts held her back. Nayeon collapsed onto the bed, letting out a deep sigh.
"Jeongyeon" she whispered softly, "what have I done?" she lamented, hitting her thigh. "I'm sorry," she murmured.
---------
"I'm going... take care," Jeongyeon said before leaping out of the window without hesitation. Momo, noticing Jeongyeon's red cheek, was shocked.
Before she could ask anything, Jeongyeon had vanished. "Take care!" Momo shouted after her as Jeongyeon sprinted away as fast as she could.
---------
Mr. Arthur escorted Nayeon down the aisle, surrounded by applause and cheers from the crowd. However, Nayeon's mind was consumed by thoughts of Jeongyeon. The words "you're a coward, you're coward" echoed in her head, repeating like a mantra. She felt numb, disconnected from the scene unfolding around her.
As Kyungso extended his hand, offering it to her, Nayeon took it and stood beside him. She scanned the place, her ears feeling numb, as if she was in a different universe.
The voices in her head grew louder, "Nayeon, your first love is gone! Wake up! Your love, Nayeon, your love!"
The priest's question pierced through her thoughts, "Ms. Nayeon, do you accept Mr. Kyungso as your husband?" Her heart racing, her fingers felt numb, unable to move.
Panic set in as her mind shouted, "What about Jeongyeon? You'll be with him in hell, your love!"
Nayeon closed her eyes, making a split-second decision. "I... Aunt!" she whispered softly. The whole place fell silent, as if time had stopped.
Ms. Mun Young, confused, approached Nayeon and whispered, "What happened?" Nayeon leaned in and whispered back,
"I need to go to the bathroom urgently." Ms. Mun Young became angry and scolded, "Shut up! Hold it in, don't create drama." Nayeon, holding her arm, pleaded,
"Please, I can't. Let me go." Ms. Mun sighed and reluctantly agreed, " I apologize for this. She has some issues; she'll be back soon." Ms. Mun Young then requested, and Nayeon bowed and took Momo with her.
Thanks!
