Damian sprinted through the village, the gruesome sights and putrid smells of death intensified. Men, women, children, and animals lay lifeless, surrounded by destruction. The once-familiar village was now unrecognizable, a scene from a nightmare. He dodged Darkwraths, hiding whenever one drew near, his heart racing with fear.

One close call forced him to dive into a barrel, holding his breath as a Darkwrath passed by, mere inches from his hiding spot

Finally, he reached a part of the village where a small group of survivors had banded together, barricading themselves inside Mistress Lyra's bakery.

Damian approached cautiously, avoiding detection by the roaming creatures.

As he slipped inside, he was met with a heart-wrenching sight: the oven room was now a makeshift infirmary, packed with injured villagers. He scanned the room frantically, searching for a familiar face, and his eyes landed on Athlaea, who was tending to the wounded with a look of determined compassion. The air was thick with fear, as those who weren't injured huddled together, shivering in shock. Children wailed, their cries piercing the air.

Damian made his way through the crowded room, his eyes fixed on Athlaea. She was so absorbed in her work that she didn't notice him at first. But when she finally looked up, her eyes widened in relief. "Damian! Thank the gods you're safe!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling with emotion.

"Have you seen Father?" Damian asked, his voice urgent.

Athlaea nodded, her expression turning grave. "Yes, he was the one who brought most of the survivors here. He went back out with some of the able-bodied to search for the armory for weapons.

"Your father is the reason why I'm and many others are still alive right now" A man with a bandage leg said to Damian, others in the room nodded in agreement.
