The opulent mansion that once felt like a gilded cage for Clara now feels like her fortress, a place of safety within a world full of treachery and violence. But even within these walls, danger seems to be creeping closer every day. Seven weeks into her pregnancy, Clara's mind is a whirlwind of emotions—fear, love, and uncertainty. The secret life growing inside her is both a beacon of hope and a source of worry. She hasn't told Felix yet, not because she doesn't trust him, but because she's terrified of what it could mean in a world like theirs.

The morning sun filters through the heavy curtains of their bedroom, casting a soft glow on the luxurious bed where Felix still sleeps beside her. His face, normally so hardened by the life he leads, is peaceful in these early hours. Clara watches him, her hand subconsciously resting on her stomach. She feels the weight of the secret she's been carrying, the future that is no longer just her own. But how do you bring a child into this world of blood and betrayal?

Clara gently slips out of bed, careful not to wake him. She wraps herself in a silk robe and heads to the balcony, seeking the fresh air and a moment of clarity. The view of the city sprawls out before her, its beauty masking the darkness that festers within. She knows that their enemies are out there, plotting and waiting for the right moment to strike. She's heard the whispers among Felix's men, the tension that lingers in the air whenever they think she isn't listening.

She's no fool. Clara knows that her loyalty to Felix is being questioned, not just by their enemies but by those within his own organization. She's seen the way some of his men look at her—like she's an outsider who doesn't belong, someone who could be a liability. They don't know the truth of her background, the skills she possesses, or the depths of her loyalty to Felix. And maybe that's for the best. The less they know, the safer she and her unborn child will be.

As she stands on the balcony, lost in thought, she hears the soft creak of the door behind her. Felix is awake.

"Clara?" His voice is deep, still laced with sleep. He approaches her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close. She leans back into his warmth, letting the comfort of his embrace chase away her worries for a moment.

"You're up early," he murmurs, pressing a kiss to the side of her neck. "Couldn't sleep?"

Clara shakes her head, choosing her words carefully. "Just thinking... about everything."

Felix turns her to face him, his intense eyes searching hers. "What's on your mind?"

Clara hesitates. She wants to tell him about the pregnancy, about the life they're going to bring into this world. But the timing feels wrong. With so much chaos surrounding them, she fears what his reaction might be. She fears for their child's safety.

"Things are getting dangerous, Felix," she says instead, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. "I can feel it. The men... they're restless. And I've heard things. Rumors about someone within your organization."

Felix's jaw tightens. He's been aware of the tension as well, but hearing Clara voice it makes it all the more real. "I know," he admits. "There's been talk of betrayal, but I'm still trying to figure out who I can trust. It's like walking through a minefield."

Clara steps closer, her hands resting on his chest. She can feel the steady beat of his heart beneath her palms. "You're not alone in this, Felix. I can help. I've dealt with betrayal before. I know how to find the snakes hiding in the grass."

Felix's eyes narrow slightly as he studies her. He knows she's capable—more than capable—but the thought of her getting involved in this side of his world fills him with dread. He doesn't want her tainted by the darkness that consumes him.
