"And that's the game, New Jersey played a great game of hockey to beat Dallas 4-1," Marshall heard the announcers on the TV say. Marshall let out a deep sigh as he was annoyed that his favorite team lost this game. They were the better team on paper but they just couldn't seem to get it going for most of the game, and in the end, New Jersey won.

Marshall knew that every team had bad games and this one was one of those days for Dallas. However, the dally wasn't all too upset, hours prior to this game ending... Everest leaned on Marshall the entire game. The husky was exhausted and wanted to watch the full game with Marshall, but her body couldn't resist the sleep so she did just that...in Marshall's arms.

The dally had his cheeks bright red the entire game, maybe it was him blushing...or maybe it was the fact that Dallas was losing... we'll never know. He decided it was best to switch the channel to something else because he couldn't dare to see the New Jersey players celebrating. Marshall grabbed the remote and began to scroll through channels, for some strange reason the dally switched over to the news channel.

And what he saw already made him more upset than his favorite team losing today's game. "Popular firefighter, Marshall has just sprained his paw, will he be able to compete?" He read the subtitle on the news. His mind began to race, he shrunk his face in annoyance. Why was the news all in his business?

'What the hell?'Marshall thought as he began to listen to what the three news anchors were saying about this topic.

"Marshall has sprained his paw trying to rescue a deer according to Brian the head official and is in rehab right now trying to recover it just before the competition."

"He's done...there's no way that he can recover well enough to be able to win this competition. He's most likely not going to be at one hundred percent going into this competition."

"Now-now hold on, he could still win but it will be much harder for him since that sprain. What we also know is that he is working with Brain on his sprain and we all know that Brian is the perfect person that could help him with recovering the sprain."

Marshall was listening to every single detail they were talking about to each other. There was a hater, making Marshall lose a lot of his motivation to be in this competition anyway.

"Marshall wasn't even good enough to be in this competition in the first place... he's clumsy, not as athletic, and isn't as strong as his other competitors. Now don't get it twisted, I love Marshall...but he had no shot of winning this competition in the first place, and especially not now since he sprained his paw."

Marshall couldn't take it anymore and shut off the TV, he let out a VERY deep sigh and began to stare at the TV as if the news was still on. The day was going great for him, he started his recovery, and he had a great time with Everest. Then it all went downhill.

The Dallas team lost, and the news was talking bad about him... all because he sprained his paw?! He didn't know if he was either pissed off or if he was about to cry. He felt both in different ways. He felt like tears could begin to stream down his face any moment but he also held back every urge to not throw the remote at the TV.

Ryder wouldn't be happy if he did that anyway.

He looked at Everest who was still passed out in his arms... but it didn't wipe the frown off his face. As much as he loved Everest and as much as he loved that they were close to each other and they cuddled the entire night. He couldn't get the news anchors' voices out of his head.

"Marshall wasn't even good enough to be in this competition in the first place, I love Marshall...but he has no shot of winning this competition in the first place."
