Many people seem to think of dreams as a window into the mind of human beings, much akin to eyes being the windows to the soul. But consider dear readers, if dreams were not windows to a human machination, but something foreign and alien. Would that be a terrifying concept? Something invading our minds. Or would it bring you peace? Meaning our minds are not so frail as to crack when invaded by other forces. Well dear reader, your answer falls down to opinion. The fact of the matter is unknown to everyone, humans are such small creatures, unable to comprehend what's beyond our reality after all.

The place she found herself was strange. The area was woods, trees surrounding her on all sides. The tree leaves a dense pressed carpet of green above her head, only the briefest sun beam daring to invade the space below. Then she looked ahead of her, flies buzzing around a bloody pile of meat and bone, crudely torn into. She saw it was a deer, tongue lolled out of it's mouth as equal spit ran from it's soon to dry mouth as blood ran from the large gashes and slashes cut into it's corpse. The body moved and for a moment she thought it might be still alive, but then she saw something was tearing into it. She heard snaps and pops like they were crushing and pulling bones apart and then the thing in question came into view. It was massive, on estimate roughly eight feet tall. Skin that was pulled gaunt on it's bones, smears of blood both fresh and old on it's body, which was black with frostbite. It's hands, holding a the deer's paunch. Which it moved up to a mouth that had no molars. Instead it's mouth was incisor's and canine's. It bite into the stomach and tore it, blood splattering the ground where it stood. It's head was mostly obscured by a bovine skull, maybe bison. At first she thought it was a headdress or mask, but looking closer revealed it was almost attached, or fused to it's skin, almost as if it grew out of it. But then the thing looked at her, and they looked eyes. God it's eyes. They were white, whiter then snow, whiter then the deepest and most blowing blizzard hail. The length of time they stayed like that is only known to the gods, but when the silence was broken it was by the thing.

"Welcome. It is rare I have visitors. Come sit." It's voice was best described as old. It's very sound sending a shiver down her spine. But she complied. Maybe she was too scared to protest. Or maybe she just felt tried. She felt so tired. The thing used it's other hand and reached deep into the deer corpse and ripped out a hunk of meat. Then they extended their hand, offering it to her.

"N-no...thanks..." She stuttered and the thing seemed like it thought as much.

"I guessed as much. You humans rarely change despite all the years you've walked the planet."

"W-what are you? A W-wendigo?" She asked.

"A wendigo? Ridiculous. I don't even match the descriptions of a wendigo. In most tellings wendigo's looked like any other human. Because they were spirits that possessed people who ate another of their kind. No child, I am not a being known in your world. I am so much more." She felt so confused. Everything felt so blurry.

"How did I get here?" She asked, her head hurt. It was throbbing.

"Same way anyone gets here. Your asleep my dear. You won't be remembering much anyway. Very few people come this far but when they do they tend to forget who they are until they wake up. Though they usually forget what happened in the dream. Think of it as...an exchange of information."

"I-I don't-"

"Understand?" The thing cuts her off. "I don't expect you too. Did you want some now?" The thing offers her the meat again and at this point more flies have started swarming them.

"N-no thanks..." She responds and the thing takes the half eaten paunch in it's other hand and swallows it whole.

"You need to eat." It said, and when it did she suddenly felt famished. The meat was starting to look passable. She feels her hand twitch, as if wanting to go for the meat.
