Jero's POV:
Hey everyone, I know the author already gave you my intro, but I can't resist doing it myself-I love my blinks too much.
I'm Jero Kim, 19 years old, standing tall at 6'5". I'm studying at LLoud College on a scholarship.
But here's a twist-I'm not single. Yep, you heard that right. I'm married, and my wife? She's drop-dead gorgeous, the kind of girl everyone has a crush on. And honestly, I'm no different. I've had a crush on her for as long as I can remember. But I've never told her, and I'm not sure I ever will.
Alright, enough chit-chat. I've got to get to college before I'm late!
I'm cycling to college, and though the route isn't long, every pedal stroke stirs up a mix of emotions. As I glide through the streets, I can't help but notice the couples around me-some walking hand in hand, others cruising in cars or balancing on motorcycles. There are those who look blissfully happy, and others who seem lost in their own worlds. And then, there are probably people like me-married, yet carrying the weight of being alone.
For most, these college days are full of unforgettable memories, but for me, they're a tangled mess of complications. My wife, surrounded by her friends and her so-called boyfriend-yeah, she has a boyfriend-every time I see them together, it's like a punch to the gut. But what can I do? She made it clear before we even got married that things would be this way.
I've just arrived at college and parked my bike in the lot. My eyes instinctively wander to Lisa's usual spot, and there it is-her sleek car parked perfectly. She's here, just like always.
We live under the same roof because our parents insist on it, but our interactions are minimal, cold, and distant-just enough to get by.
As I'm making my way down the corridor toward my class, lost in thought, a voice cuts through the noise, sharp and unmistakable.
"Nerd, you finally showed up?"
I knew that voice all too well. I stopped in my tracks, resisting the urge to keep moving. I didn't want to turn around, but if I didn't, they'd make sure I regretted it later.
It's him-my wife's boyfriend, Eun Woo.
The hallway suddenly feels smaller as everyone's attention zeroes in on me. In this college, most students are rich and spoiled, though a few are genuinely decent. But right now, I'm surrounded by the worst of them.
I heard the soft click of footsteps behind me, and before I could react, there she is—my wife, standing in front of me with that familiar, mocking smirk on her lips.
Eun Woo's smirk widened as he turned to his gang of bullies. "Alright, guys, what should we do with our handsome nerd today?"
I sensed trouble brewing the moment I saw them. Standing there, I tried to steady my breath, my nerves frayed but my feet firmly planted.
Lisa's gaze cut through me like a blade, assessing my every reaction with a cold, calculated precision. Her smirk deepened my unease, but I met her silence with my own, mirroring the quiet tension we share at home.
Eun Woo casually draped a hand on my shoulder and addressed his entourage, "Alright, folks, here's our target for today. What do you think-how far should we take this?"
Their expressions were hard, suggesting they were planning something more sinister than usual. They set their things aside and closed in on me, surrounding me with a palpable sense of menace.
I bore it all with a grim resolve, clinging to the faint hope that maybe, just maybe, she might develop some affection for me. Maybe that's why I endure this silence, suffering through it all in the faint hope of her compassion.
"A bit gentler today, but..." Irene, one of Lisa's loyal bullies, said with a cruel grin. She poured her coffee over my head, and I squeezed my eyes shut. One by one, the others followed her lead, until it was my wife's turn. Her eyes held something unsettling-was that a flicker of genuine discomfort behind her forced smile? Did she even care about what they were doing to me? Did it bother her that they torment me daily?
Just as I was locked in that silent exchange with her, I felt a brutal punch connect with my face, sending me crashing to the floor. I looked up to see Eun Woo's furious face. "How dare you! How dare you look at my girlfriend?"
I stayed silent, yearning to shout that she is my wife, but I couldn't, given the delicate nature of our situation. I glanced at Lisa, who shot me a fleeting look before dismissing me entirely. It was clear she didn't care at all about my plight.
Just as Eun Woo was gearing up for another punch, a hand seized his arm from behind. I looked up to see that it was none other than .......
