I woke up when I felt someone gently touching my face. It didn’t take long to figure out who it was—it was my beautiful wife, Lisa. I stayed still, curious to see what she would do next.

Then, I felt her soft lips on mine. A surge of warmth spread through me, and I decided to surprise her by kissing her back. I pulled her closer, deepening the kiss, enjoying the way she melted into me.

After a few seconds, I slowly broke the kiss and opened my eyes, catching her staring at me with that adorable, wide-eyed expression. I locked eyes with her, a teasing smirk tugging at the corners of my lips. "Good morning, Mrs. Kim," I greeted her playfully.

I raised an eyebrow, "Good morning, Mr. Kim." I said it seductively, surprising even myself. But when Jero smirked back, I knew exactly what he was up to. "Kim, are you teasing me?" I asked in a playful tone, moving closer to his neck.

Without warning, I bit his neck gently but with enough force to make him gasp. "Ahhh, Lisaaa," he shouted, his voice a mix of surprise and something else entirely. He tried to speak again, "Are you a vampire or something...?" Before he could finish, I bit him again, earning another shout, "Ahhh, please don't bite!"

I pulled back, smirking as I looked at him. "You called me a vampire, but you’re the one acting like a scaredy-cat," I teased, watching as his expression shifted from shock to something more determined.

Jero’s eyes darkened with playful intent as he pushed me back and quickly flipped us over so that I was now pinned beneath him. His hands moved to pin my wrists above my head, his waist pressing me down onto the bed. His gaze was fierce, like a lion eyeing its prey. But I couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of him trying to be all intimidating. That’s when he growled, "Mrs. Kim, I’m no cat. I’m a lion." He growled again for effect, leaning in closer, "And lions don’t get scared. Also, sorry about the vampire thing—you're more like my lioness."

His words sent a blush creeping onto my face, and I couldn’t help but bite my lip. The intensity in his eyes, the closeness of his body... God, I loved this feeling. I loved being this close to my husband.

"Hmm, so I’m a lioness, huh? Does that mean I can devour you whenever I want?" I smirked back at him, feeling more confident than ever.

"Of course, but right now..." Jero began to lean in closer, his lips hovering just above mine, and then—of course, because life is unfair—my phone rang.

Frustration flashed across his face, and I almost laughed at how annoyed he looked. "What the... Who ruins a perfectly good morning like this?" he muttered, releasing my hands as he moved off me.

I couldn’t help but give him a half-smile, which he returned with a fake one of his own. "Go take a shower. I’ll get breakfast ready," he suggested, though I could tell he was still grumpy about the interruption.

"Okay," I replied, watching him slip out of bed, put on his slippers, and head out of the room.

I couldn’t help but linger outside the room, curious about who could be calling Lisa so early in the morning. I heard her answer the phone, her voice sharp.

"Hello, who's that?" she asked.

"Eun Woo? What the hell? I blocked your number yesterday, so now you’re calling me from some unknown number?" Her voice was laced with irritation.

"Shut up! Don’t call me 'babe.' We’re over! I don’t love you, and to be honest, I never did. Why can’t you get that through your thick skull?" Her words hit me like a ton of bricks. If she didn’t love him, then why had she been with him?

"Yeah, I’m in love with someone else now—someone I love way more than I ever loved you. Now leave me alone." Lisa’s voice was firm, unwavering.

Then, she added something that made my heart race. "Eun Woo, shut your mouth! There’s no way I could ever love an idiot like you. You’re nothing compared to him. The man I love is a lion, and I’m his lioness."

I felt my cheeks heat up, a strange mix of emotions swirling inside me. Lisa... loved me? But then why had she been with Eun Woo? Was it fake love? An act?

No matter what, if Eun Woo had even an ounce of self-respect left, he would never bother Lisa again after the way she tore into him.

Lisa angrily hung up the phone just as Jero was about to leave from outside. But as luck would have it, he suddenly sneezed.

Jero squeezed his eyes shut, cursing under his breath, "Shit, I hope Lisa didn’t hear that."

But it was too late. Lisa came out of the room quickly, spotting him standing there. "What are you still doing here?"

Jero nervously looked at her, trying to come up with an excuse. Lisa raised an eyebrow again, catching on quickly. "Did you hear my entire conversation?"

He didn’t know what to say, his silence making it clear that he had. Lisa moved closer, looking at him intently. But just then, Jero sneezed again, his cold getting the better of him.

Lisa’s expression softened, worry replacing the annoyance. "Do you have a cold?" she asked gently.

Jero nodded, trying to avoid her gaze.

"Why didn’t you say anything earlier? How did you catch a cold?" Lisa questioned, her tone now filled with concern.

Jero hesitated, thinking, "How do I tell her that I got turned on last night because of her, and that’s why I took a cold shower to calm down?"

Lisa's concern made my heart flutter, but her questions were getting dangerously close to the truth. I needed to come up with something quick. "Uh, it's nothing, really," I mumbled, trying to brush it off. "Just stayed up late last night, that's all."

Her eyes narrowed slightly, clearly not buying it, but she didn’t press further. Instead, she sighed, running a hand through her hair. "You should’ve told me," she said softly, her fingers lightly brushing against my arm. "Come on, let’s get you back to bed."

"I’m fine, Lisa," I insisted, even though the truth was I felt a bit light-headed. But I didn’t want to worry her. Besides, the last thing I wanted was to admit that the cold I’d caught was entirely my fault because of her.

Ignoring my protests, she gently took my arm and guided me back to the bed. "Sit," she commanded, and I complied, knowing better than to argue when she got that tone in her voice.

Lisa grabbed the blanket and draped it over me, her touch warm and soothing. "Stay here. I’ll go get you some medicine," she said firmly, already heading out of the room.

I watched her leave, a mix of guilt and affection swirling in my chest. How did I get so lucky to have someone like her? Despite all the misunderstandings, the secrets we kept from each other, there was no denying that we cared deeply for one another.
