Imagine you are struggling with the aftermath of Thanos and trying to find your place in the world, only to find where you belong in an unexpected place.

You sat on the dock of the lake, looking out at the water. It had been a few months since the snap had been reversed. There were responsibilities you could have attended to, but instead, you just crawled inside your head, not paying any attention to the world around you. You knew Pepper was worried about you, but she gave you the space you needed to grieve. Everything had happened so fast between the first snap and the last that you felt like your mind still couldn't fully comprehend what had happened. You found yourself replaying everything in your head, over and over again.

The moment Bruce arrived with Dr. Strange in Central Park while you were out jogging with Tony and Pepper. The look of panic on his face when he told you that Thanos was coming. The sadness in his eyes when he told you that Loki was gone and he didn't know what the outcome of Thor's fate was. The next thing you knew, you watched as Tony, Dr. Strange, and Peter were flying up into space, trying to stop Thanos' children. You called Steve as soon as you realized what they were after. The very stone that created Vision. Unbeknownst to Tony, or at least you thought he didn't know, you had stayed in contact with Steve and the others, sending them money to help them survive while they were on the run. You met them in Scotland, getting Wanda and Vision away just in time, and then found yourself in Wakanda.

When the fighting broke out, Bucky and Steve insisted that you stay at the palace with Shuri as she worked on trying to help Vision. But seeing all of your friends, your family, fighting below, you knew you had to help. Shuri knew that look in your eye and simply smiled, pulling out a special suit she had made especially for you, a suit that would protect you. While you were in the middle of the fight, the sight of lightening crackling down to the ground gave you a sense of relief. Seeing Thor standing there, fighting the enemy, you felt like maybe everything was going to be okay. At one point, you were cornered, only for the aliens to be struck down by lightening. You had shielded your eyes, and when removing your arm from your face, you watched as Thor ran up to you, stopping just short from embracing you.

You tilted your head as you looked at him, reaching up and cupping his face, running a thumb just underneath the eye that didn't match. Before anything could be said, you were both thrown back into the fight. At one point, you thought you had won as you watched Thor burry his axe into Thanos. But then it all went wrong. Thanos snapped his fingers. You watched in horror as people around you began turning into dust and disappearing. You looked towards Thor, whose head had whipped around to find you. You ran towards him, calling out his name, but stopped when a strange feeling began taking over your body. You looked down to see that you were disappearing, too. You felt a panic go through your body as you looked towards Thor, the last thing you remember seeing was him running towards you, repeating no, no, no, no, as a tear slipped down his face.

Five years had gone by, but to you, it was mere seconds. Coming to on a field in the middle of Wakanda, Bucky running over and helping you up, you were once again thrust into a confusing battle, this time one that took place on what looked like the Avengers compound. The destruction around you was jarring, but once everyone walked through the portals, the fight began. When Thanos and his army began turning to dust, you sighed in relief that it was over until you heard Peter call out to you. Running over, you immediately fell to your knees when you saw Tony sitting there, his life slowly fading away. Peter held onto you as Pepper said goodbye. After Tony's funeral, most of the team started to disperse on their new paths. Bucky moved back to New York, Sam checking in on him from time to time. Clint went home with his family, officially retiring. Wanda disappeared. The Guardians returned to the sky. Everyone just seemed to drift away. But you, you remained.
